Review: http://www.worldofkj.com/article.php?i=782This movie... I swear, it's so strange. The way it introduces and drops characters. The constant jazz music. The way it ends with this adorable, whimsical buildup to a homicide or how almost every character chooses the less compelling, dramatic path. Just so very strange.

It's the cinematic equivalent to wallpaper. It can be pretty, it does it's job, but it's just there.
I'd almost recommend it for Anthony Hopkins alone, but I'm not feeling that generous.

A mature, slick, mixed pallette of agendas and emotions with a naive attempt to at a parable of sorts, but which didn't matter in the overall result as an engrossing and dramatic ensemble. Speaking of which, Hopkins and Maria Flor are fantastic, and Jude Law naturally slips into his role.
I adore films from this sub-genre branch. Much like Closer (also with Jude Law), it explores a myriad of relationships and connections and showcases different outlooks and mantras without ever pigeon-holing itself into either one. It's a real viewers' film.
