The Iron Horse is a silent film directed by John Ford in 1924 and produced by Fox Film. In 2011, it was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress.

I watched the, until recently was lost, American version of this film. Despite running right at two and a half hours, the film actually takes advantage of its runtime quite well. The film spends plenty of time building itself up and I was actually surprised with just how long it took for George O'Brien to come on screen. The action is very impressive given the time of release and it's one of the better silent films I have seen.
