 The Sitter
The Sitter Quote: The Sitter is an upcoming American black comedy film directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Michael De Luca. The film tells the story about a male student who, after being suspended from college, is lured into a babysitting gig for which he is woefully unprepared.
The film is a Michael De Luca Productions and 20th Century Fox joint venture. It is being distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film was scheduled to be released in theaters on August 5, 2011, but was pushed back to December 9, 2011.

 Re: The Sitter
If you watched the red band trailer, you essentially saw all of the good jokes. It is one of those films that you watch and you never check your cell phone, but when you get out you mostly can't remember anything about it and what is even worse, you don't care to try. I suppose the best part is that Jonah Hill is still the same unemployed loser living with his mom that he was to start the film, just now he has a girlfriend that is out of his league.

 Re: The Sitter
Exquisite!
The Sitter is an exceptionally well honed comedy. It's gettin' up towards Shakespeare-grade biting wit - - I'm not kidding.
This is the most well thought out and executed film made this year.
I can't believe that David Gordon Green is not receiving the accolades he so richly deserves for his groundbreaking work in low comedy. His indie-arsty soul has been burnished to a high shine with his 2011 biathlon of humor encompassing The Sitter and Your Highness. These two brilliant films will be studied and admired far into the future - - well past the meagre mortal lives of their doubters and haters.

This wasn't terrible. Paint by the numbers babysitter comedy. Had some really funny moments. Didn't really have any shake my head moments. Above average.

 Re: The Sitter
I really liked it. I kept thinking about how it's almost a sequel to Superbad, with Jonah's character aging about the right amount in that time, and being where you'd expect him to in his life. It's darker though. Superbad is great because the characters are living on a cloud, the most important things in the world are things like the party and girls and that weekend. The Sitter is about what happens 5 years down the road from that point when the shine of everything has come off and Jonah has to learn to evolve into an adult
One thing I also liked is that the kids aren't just a gag. You can see their futures and identities when they become 16 already mapped out and it's a mess, without the right family/emotional support (just as Jonah didn't have). They're also smart. They're supposed to be - as having grown up too far too quickly in a sad way. Jonah ends up the hero because he cares/pays attention to the kids while nobody else does, rather than the other way around. This is a touch that wouldn't happen with a non involved director instead of DGG
It's definitely the least funny of DGG's last 3 films (though it has its moments), but I think it also has the most backbone and depth. I would call it more good than great, I think the Rockwell plot and the gang members is a little tired and a derivative of stuff like Pineapple Express and Date Night, but it's definitely well crafted and planned and above the cut for a comedy

The Sitter
I thought it was very funny. Jonah Hill is certainly a great comedic talent. He can turn it on and go full on black gangsta white boy or he can be the quippy reply guy, both are funny. The first half is better than the second half.
