Re: Kaboom
I wasn't a huge fan of Araki's earlier work, but I loved Mysterious Skin and highly enjoyed his comedy Smiley Face. For the most part, Kaboom is another winner for the filmmaker. It's fun, fast-paced, and appropriately bizarre. Thomas Dekker and Haley Bennett give engaging performances.
What brings it down is the finale. I wasn't fond of how everything came together and was explained to us, but I could have swallowed that if it weren't for the very ending. The whole last 15 minutes just feel so cheap and rushed. It's like Araki ran out of ideas and decided to end it without putting much thought or care into the proceedings.
Overall I still very much enjoyed it and the soundtrack was great, but the end definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. What a shame it didn't have a stronger ending.
It's still one I'll purchase and add to my collection. The ending doesn't totally ruin the rest of the movie. It just could have been a stronger film with a better one.
8/10 (B+)

Re: Kaboom
Kind of fun for a throwaway movie, especially the plentiful gratuitous nudity. But as a serious take on the sci-fi/horror genre, it's crap.
2 out of 5.

2 out of 5. Did this movie for a single second appear to be serious to you?

Re: Kaboom
My question's equally vapid as that review above, so fair game. Either your "review" contains some heavy sarcasm or you watched a different movie.
