Oh, those gorgeous, blue-eyed Danes and their capacity for forgiveness and healing.

The movie definitely feels a bit overly schematic and busy--the scenes in Africa in and of themselves are compelling, but don't mesh with the overall film very well--but it's also extremely well-acted, attractively shot, and pretty poignant. The type of movie Miramax would have released in the '90s: an air of sophistication, a high-gloss aesthetic, a feel-bad-to-feel-good message, impeccably acted, undeniably a bit mushy.
