 Dressed to Kill
Dressed to Kill Quote: Dressed to Kill is a 1980 suspense film written and directed by Brian de Palma. It stars Michael Caine, Angie Dickinson and Nancy Allen. The original music score is composed by Pino Donaggio. The film is marketed with the tagline "Brian de Palma, master of the macabre, invites you to a showing of the latest fashion... in murder." It centers on the murder of a housewife, and the investigation headed by the witness to the murder, a young prostitute, and the housewife’s teenaged son.
The film was the target of some backlash from the gay and transgender communities, who felt that its portrayal of transgender people was misguided and homophobic. In addition, de Palma was accused of being misogynistic by feminist groups.
At the time of its release, critics clashed over whether the film was a stylistic evolution of Brian de Palma's work, or simply a re-imagining of themes and concepts lifted from Hitchcock's Psycho.

 Re: Dressed to Kill
De Palma at the height of his art. Not only is it a loving tribute/homage to Psycho, but it's a masterfully directed film of its own right. The elevator scene, the subway chase, the final scare... oh my! What a film.

 Re: Dressed to Kill
The constant references to Psycho are a bit much. They basically give away the twist ending since it becomes a 99% certainty that it will also be a homage to Psycho.
Still a good movie though with a a very strong performance from Nancy Allen. 7.7/10

 Re: Dressed to Kill
You only know because it’s been talked in that sense, that’s the rub of it, A great film. Try deathtrap. It’s unfortunate that people have to watch films like psycho or even the sixth sense because it’s the popular knowledge that makes us seek them out and are left so disappointed in the end. With older films thankfully I was never spoiled, you do not only have to suspend your disbelief, but you must also open your mind to the year it came out.
