Quote:
King Solomon's Mines is a 1985 comedy-adventure film loosely based on the novel King Solomon's Mines (1885) by H. Rider Haggard. It stars Richard Chamberlain, Sharon Stone, Herbert Lom and John Rhys-Davies. It was adapted by Gene Quintano and James R. Silke and directed by J. Lee Thompson. This version of the story was a light, comedic take, deliberately referencing and parodying Indiana Jones (which actor Rhys-Davies appeared in two installments of the franchise). It was filmed outside Harare in Zimbabwe.

It was followed by what critics considered "a badly made sequel" for "bad-film enthusiasts": Allan Quatermain and the Lost City of Gold (1987).

For those that thought Romancing the Stone was a Indiana Jones rip off, this is to Indiana Jones what Flash Gordon was to Star Wars. The original stories of course influenced the hugely successful films that when they finally got around to making their own version of the blockbuster it falls short. This is in the Firewalker category, but I still enjoy it as this and this film's sequel were always fun films to watch when I was a kid, when burned out my Indy and Big Trouble in Little China VHS tapes.

The film isn't bad, and the actors including I believe Sharon Stone's debut film, it's just the kind of film that isn't big budget enough to be a contender, but not DTV quality bad. It's just passable entertainment.

Which Quatermain-film was the one, where Chamberlain and Stone are captured by Cannibals, thrown into a giant cooking pot (while some cannibals also put some vegetables into it), then manage to escape by rolling down a hill within the pot just to end up in front of a hungry lion and, on that occasion, have some sex for no good reason (then there's a cut and we've got some Nazis on a train listening to Wagner)? Was that City or Mines? I loved that part.

Haha, that was this one. It also had the main Nazi that always whipped the shit out someone and then the whip would break and he would yell "Look what you made me do" and then he'd pull out a fresh one and start whipping again.
