Les plages d'Agnès [The Beaches of Agnès]
The Beaches of AgnèsQuote: The Beaches of Agnès (French: Les plages d'Agnès) is a 2008 French documentary film directed by Agnès Varda. The film is an autobiographical essay where Varda revisits places from her past, reminisces about life and celebrates her 80th birthday on camera. She has said that it will most likely be her last film.

Re: Les plages d'Agnès [The Beaches of Agnès]
I still have problems with the visual style of Varda's documentaries (they look like home movies made in the 80s), but at least this is more interesting than The Gleaners and I. Varda is a fascinating character, and she reflects on her life well, without getting too sentimental or narcissistic. Of course, the most engaging parts are when she talks about her films and the New Wave, but the whole thing at least manages to remain absorbing throughout. It's also pretty funny (a lot moreso than Gleaners); Chris Marker being represented by a cartoon cat is a brilliant inside joke.
I enjoyed it, but watching it just made we want to watch all those French New Wave films I missed.
