Homecoming
HomecomingQuote: Homecoming is an American 2009 indie-thriller film, directed by Morgan J. Freeman and written by Katie L. Fetting, Jake Goldberger and Frank Hannah. The film follows a student couple, Mike (Matt Long) and Elizabeth (Jessica Stroup), on their homecoming - Elizabeth is taken home by Mike's ex-girlfriend Shelby (Mischa Barton) after a road accident. Shelby is soon revealed to be fixated on Mike and subsequently treats Elizabeth in a cruel and deranged manner. Homecoming's storyline closely resembles that of the novel Misery by Stephen King, thus making it very similar to its film adaptation.

Re: Homecoming (2009)
It's a moderately entertaining thriller hindered by bad direction and an incredibly forced and cliched script. Mischa Barton does an alright job when her accent isn't fading in and out and becomes convincingly menacing by the end. Matt Long is bland as hell, and Jessica Stroup is good but her character is underdeveloped. The same thing kind of happens over and over, with Stroup nearly escaping captivity before Barton's antagonist imprisons her yet again, and it gets tiring by the end. The film is shot with a grainy looking HD cam that doesn't do it any favors, and the direction is obviously unenthusiastic. If you've seen Fatal Attraction, Swimfan, Obsessed or anything in the same vein as those films this is pretty much a replica of that with a dash of Misery thrown in. It's worth checking out if you're bored but otherwise I'd say pass on it. C

Yeah, this movie definitely has nothing to do with originality, being a mash-up of Fatal Attraction and Misery. But it does its job fairly decently. Mischa Barton is actually convincing as a psycho, but she gets to the limits of her acting capabilities rather quickly. Jessica Stroup looks god...and there's not much more to be said about her. The male lead is very bland. There are some bits that are actually suspenseful and the film is never boring, but it is also predictable from start to finish.
