It's another theatrical quality Direct-to-DVD sequel and it works surprisingly well.

Vacancy 2: The First Cut

This is a really awful film. The first Vacancy scared me because of its realistic and sick video screaming etc., and I enjoyed it. But this one, which goes back to the beginning of how the motel became a snuff video producer, and is ironically shot like a snuff film (and thus you cannot see anything that is going on), is empty. The filming is amateur, the story is shit (they must have been able to come up with something better than that), the killings are incomprehensible, and there's no danger. The characters are cliche as hell and you want them to get killed. It also copies The Texas Chainsaw Massacre in that a sole girl is left at the end walking along a road with blood down her after an ordeal. She should have died. There was no reason for her to live.

This was shot on an extremely low budget, and it shows.
