Hors de prix [Priceless]
PricelessQuote: Priceless (French: Hors de prix) is a 2006 French film directed by Pierre Salvadori, who says it was adapted from the 1961 Blake Edwards' film, Breakfast at Tiffany's, though the synopsis lays out more like the 1958 novella of the same name written by Truman Capote.

PRICELESS - 8/10 (B+)
Absolutely charming! Audrey Tautou is simply stunning! I've never been a huge fan of hers but she won me over here.

Re: Hors de prix [Priceless]
B+
I have never bought into the Amelie hype. I think it is one of the most overrated movies of the last decade and Audrey Tautou was a royal pain in that film. Just couldn't stand her character.
That said, she has well redeemed herself since then with movies like A Very Long Engagement (great underrated film!) and this rather edgy romcom which is somewhat of a play on Breakfast at Tiffany's. Sure, Tautou is still not Hepburn, but she has never been as lovable (or as beautiful) as in this film. For a romantic comedy it was also rather edgy (the French...) considering that Tautou is basically playing a high-class prostitute and the bartender who falls for her turns into a hooker as well to get to her. The movie's breezy feather-light nature somewhat glosses over these rather dark aspects and focuses more on the fun of the whole thing and on the interaction between Tautou and Gad Elmaleh.
It is not a particularly memorable film and aside from what I have said about its edginess and the lack of certain conventions...it is pretty much by the book like all other romcoms. But that doesn't stop it from being a well-acted piece of fun.
