Transsiberian
TranssiberianQuote: Transsiberian is a 2008 thriller directed by Brad Anderson, which premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival and began its theatrical release on July 18, 2008 in New York City.
The film was written by Anderson and Will Conroy, starred Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley, and was set on the Trans-Manchurian Railway between Beijing and Moscow (the film's name is a misnomer). Filming began in December 2006 in Vilnius, Lithuania, with additional photography in Beijing and Russia.

Re: Transsiberian
A taut well crafted, well acted hitchcockian mystery/thriller. Emily Mortimer was fantastic as usual, Harrelson gets lost in his role as Roy, while Eduardo Noriega delivers a note worthy performance. The only fault I could find was that it is a tad predictable (only if you've seen as many of these types of movies as I have) which slightly diminished the film for me. If your looking for a solid well acted thriller you can't do much better than this.

TRANSSIBERIAN - 8/10 (A-)
I loved it. It takes a little bit to get going, but it's worth the wait. It was a fascinating, very well-crafted thriller.

Re: Transsiberian
Very good! A well-acted and extremely atmospheric and tense film.
One complaint: the military train showing up in the third act was a grating script contrivance. I believe the term is deus ex machina.

Re: Transsiberian
Pretty solid thriller. Brad Anderson also did The Machinist, which I like a lot more than I ought to, and this is a similar kind of slow-burn, Hitchcockian mystery. It's admirably restrained in building up its story and characters, and it's misleading enough in its camerawork and editing to stay interesting.
My big problem with it is the drug subplot and entire third act, which really weren't needed. It was fine at what it was - why mess with a good thing? By the time the second train shows up, all logic is thrown out the window.
Ben Kingsley redeems himself here, after that terrible showing in War, Inc. And Emily Mortimer is pretty great.
You could do worse.
