 The TV Set
The TV Set Quote: The TV Set is a 2006 comedy about an idealistic writer attempting to bring his vision for a TV show to fruition on the small screen.

THE TV SET - 8/10 (B+)
It's a little too slight and should have been longer. The time went by way too fast and I wanted more. It's a very interesting and clever comedy for anyone who finds the subject matter intriguing. Sigourney Weaver gives a really good performance. I felt bad for Duchovny's character. It would be awful having to watch studio heads destroy your vision of how a show you wrote should go. They make so many changes, including the tone of the show, that it's nothing even remotely like what it was meant to be. The biggest problems were the actor they had playing the main character. He was so obnoxious and I just wanted someone to knock some sense into him. When you finally see clips of what the show has become at the upfronts it has turned into something truly terrible.
The TV Set is an entertaining and aggrivating time and I recommend it.

 Re: The TV Set
Here is the kind of film where all of the lead performances are great, the script is clever, and everything seems in the right place, but yet I couldn't help but feel that this could've been so much more. There's something off about it that I can't quite put my finger on. I guess it's kind of too predictable. I guess I just wanted to slap every character in the fucking head by the time the credits came up.
The good news for Duchovny's character though is I don't think the show would last past Season 2. In a real life context, I think the character of Zach would flip out because he can't date his leading lady.
