I wish I had my original review for this one...

It's outstanding. A drama's drama.

Julianne Moore is tremendous, although the film is not as good as she is. B

A good drama on jealousy, betrayal and faith. Its strongest point is the acting by the whole cast. I know Julianne Moore got all the accolades for her performance and those were well-deserved, but Ralph Fiennes and Stephen Rea were at least equally good in this Neil Jordan flick. The direction is good and I liked the development of the story. The score was beautiful and very memorable too.

The film's weak aspect was the sheer predictability of the story. I knew about 30 minutes into the film who's going to die and how the whole thing will likely pan out. Still, it was ejoyable to see it go on, if sometimes only for the sheer great acting and interacting of the cast members. A couple of great bits of dark humor helped as well.
