Re: Secretary
A fantastic film, and a really big surprise! This is one of the best films of 2002 and is massively underrated. Maggie Gyllenhaal delivers a raw, fearless and emotional performance that is easily the best of her career. I was impressed by Sherrybaby, but she's even better here - incredibly cute, lovable and charismatic throughout. I seriously think she was robbed of an Oscar nomination. James Spader is also quietly fantastic, and the two have excellent chemistry together. The film is also incredibly well-written, taking a somewhat unconventional topic and turning it into a sweet, moving and often hilarious love story. A real delight! I highly recommend it.

Re: Secretary
Other than the fact that I hate James Spader with a passion, the film was good. Maggie Gyllenhaal is of course fantastic, completely robbed of an Oscar nomination. She carries the entire film.

Re: Secretary
I love this film. A totally quirky, oddball love story that manages to be sexy, sweet, and funny. Maggie Gyllenhaal is fantastic here. How she did not score an Oscar nomination is beyond me.
Secretary is a gem.

I do like James Spader (didn't used to), but I dislike Maggie Gylenhaal, she's just got an annoying face and mannerisms, and she's not sexy at all. The film is weird. Will not live long in the memory apart from Spader's great acting.
