 Hood of Horror
Hood of Horror Quote: Hood of Horror (aka Snoop Dogg's Hood of Horror) is a horror film adaptation of a fictional comic book, which is an anthology of three short tales set in an urban milieu in a style reminiscent of Tales From The Crypt and Tales from the Hood. The movie debuted at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival. The American premiere was on October 18, 2006 at Mann's Hollywood and Highland in Los Angeles, CA. It was also the "secret" ninth film screened in the 8 Films to Die For film festival on November 19, 2006. It opened worldwide in theaters on May 4, 2007.

^ Real cover art.
Anyways... yeah, I watched it. As a film, it's kinda, sorta... REALLY FUCKING bad. But still, highly entertaining. The film consists of three different stories, in order from best to worst. The first part with the gangsta chick who kills people by putting a red x through their wall graffiti tags is kinda cool because of the hilarious death sequences. The second story about the racist redneck who takes over an old folks home (legally, his dad who passed away was the owner or something) and tries to starve the black tenants while screwing his ho girlfriend upstairs is even more funny because of what the old black guys do to him. The last story about some rapper who got his friend killed or something (this one was boring, so I kinda forget everything) sucked. It's a really dumb flick, and Snoop Dogg's presence in the film makes absolutely no sense at all, but the death scenes are funny and it's entertaining enough to watch once and never, ever again.

Zingaling's full of shit. Shit, Zingaling.
One of the most entertaining horror movies in years.
This isn't artsy. And, while each of the three stories makes sense individually, Snoop Dogg's presence doesn't. However, each of the three stories is so much fun, it's easy to forget that Hood of Horror is just three Tales of the Crypt-like episodes brought into one film, without a logical transition.
And who cares, really? The film is super campy. One story revolves around a young artist getting revenge on some gangstas, another narrates four black vietnam veterans taking on a white southern playboy, and the final one is about some hot new rapper (*cough* The Game *cough*) getting his cummeupance. Does it get any better?
Well, yeah. The director knows the film's cheesy no matter what it does (it's called Hood of Horror, lol), and supplements it with cliched camera shots. It's worse than the faux horror scenes in Scary Movie 2.
Unless you're stiff and can't enjoy something that's meant for entertainment, even if the entertainment is, at times, a rapper-approved minstrel show (kinda like Flavor of Love), you'll love this.
On the bradley witherberry scale: 5 out of 5!
On the torrino scale: B
