The Wicker Man (2006)
The Wicker ManQuote: The Wicker Man is a 2006 American remake of the 1973 British film of the same title. It was written and directed by Neil LaBute, based on a screenplay by Anthony Shaffer, and stars Nicolas Cage and Ellen Burstyn.
The film was poorly received by critics, and Robin Hardy, co-creator and director of the original British film, disassociated himself from it.

Good in parts -- and Cage is likeable -- but it wastes so much potential. When the townspeople first don the masks, that's a moment that can actually be creepy, and it is. But then they start walking around dressed like zebras and bears. Talk about sucking away the tension. Some of the ADR stuff was laughable and destroyed the ending ("Ahh! My legs! You broke my legs!!"), and I couldn't believe when the 'six months later' title card appeared, and James Franco and Jason Ritter showed up.
So much wasted potential.

Yeah, the part with his legs was majorly odd since we didn't actually see anything, just heard his yelling which seemed to come out of nowhere. And what's with the cameos as well? They also came out of left field and didn't really add anything to the film.

I don't want to read any spoilers, but I read in several reviews that the movie has Nicholas Cage running around in a bear costume and I am saying...wtf? Can anyone explain that to me without spoilers?

He runs around in a bear costume during the festival, as opposed to the jester outfit in the original film.

Wow.
Ya know, the first hour and twenty minutes or so of this film is just sorta, regular bad movie bad. You know, typical stuff - pointless, boring, kinda cheesy, and just generally useless.
Then, something clicks, and the film enters into some kind of different plane of cinematic existence, where things like irony, ridiculousness, and over-the-topness (new word) don't exist. Oh, it's still fucking terrible, but you have to give it at least some credit for sticking to it's guns and going all out in the "what the fuck is this shit?!?!" department. Nic Cage dones a bear suit, starts slapping and karate kicking every woman he sees, rides a bicycle and tries to act angry while doing so, and generally just runs around screaming his head off and providing ample amounts of unitentional humor.
A completey ridiculous mess of a film that has some interesting moments because LaBute and Cage are nucking futs.

I loved this movie. I'm debating my grade but I don't want it to somehow reflect upon my other top films of the year.
And the ending made perfect sense.

Impossible.
Wicker Man was shit, but it was insanely fun shit. I laughed almost non-stop for the entire last half hour.

No, it was Willow up to her old tricks.
I look at Wicker Man as a b-side to The Village. I also find it to be nearly as effective as the original film. As it dove further and further into madness, the ride become more and more enjoyable. Really, Cage drop kicking Leelee Sobieski. That's great cinema.

Besides the chuckle-inducing, "Six months later..." card that just doesn't fit, nothing is added to the film. It's just a piss poor, 'Oh, aren't we clever! See, if you were paying attention, you'd know this is what the islanders have been doing all along!' Well, yeah. Sister Summersile was kind enough to explain the entire villainous plot before breaking Nicholas Cage's legs in voice over. It's a shit ending to a shit film. I'd recommend Halloween 5, then, as you see to equate a lack of quality with 'great cinema'

I've decided to give it a B+.
It's too wacked out to not enjoy.

I somewhat agree.
Honestly, it's the only film I've ever given one star to that I'd flat out recommend someone see.

I admit, I have a desire to hear Nicholas Cage repeat, "Killing me won't bring your goddamn honey back!"

I'd even settle for "My legs! My legggggssssss!", or even "You bitches! You bitches!"

The only thing missing from the film was nudity.

Quite simply, the worst feature I have experienced since Battlefield Earth.
What the hell was that? Like...
I was screeching in laughter the whole time, but the end just did it:
-Nicolas Cage punching SIster Beach in the face
-Nicolas Cage dropkicking (?) Leelee Sobieski
-Nicolas Cage running around in a bear (?) costume
-The entire island skipping giddily with their animal masks on
-Nicolas Cage running up to his daughter and punching that random woman in the face
-*snap* AHHHHHHHHHHHHH *snap two* AHHHHHHHHHH OH MY GOD MY LEGSSSSSSSS
-BITCHES! YOU BITCHESSSSSSSS!
-Killing me won't bring your honeyyyyyyy back! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
A solid F.
