Badlands
BadlandsQuote: Badlands is a 1973 American crime drama film written and directed by Terrence Malick, starring Martin Sheen and Sissy Spacek. Warren Oates and Ramon Bieri are also featured. Malick has a small speaking part although he does not receive an acting credit.
The story, though fictional, is loosely based on the real-life murder spree of Charles Starkweather and his girlfriend, Caril Ann Fugate, in 1958.

A-/B+
Pretty good killers on the run film. Well shot and paced, well written, well acted for the most part. Not much more to say. It's... veyr good.

Re: Badlands
Yeah, it's not up to Malick's usual standard of orgiastic visuals, but it's still very good. It's exactly as you'd expect a Malick-directed Starkweather/Fugate film to be: patient, contemplative, deeply spiritual, and punctuated with moments of extreme violence.
It's no Thin Red Line, but really, what is?

Re: Badlands
Just watched this for the first time, didn't really like it that much surprisingly. For some reason the voiceover irritated me.
