The Medallion
The MedallionQuote: The Medallion (Chinese: 飛龍再生) is a 2003 action-comedy film co-written and directed by Hong Kong filmmaker Gordon Chan, and starring Jackie Chan, Lee Evans, and Claire Forlani. It was much less successful than Chan's other American movies such as the Rush Hour film series, Shanghai Noon and its sequel, Shanghai Knights. Not even close to Jackie Chan's best film. Just average entertainment. C+

Here we start witnessing the decease of Jackie Chan in Hollywood in what is pretty much the worst movie starring him I have ever seen. Some of the effects Most of the efects are simply laughable. Jackie Chan still retains his charm, but that doesn't help the movie much. Claire Forlani is a good addition, but she is pretty much wasted. Lee Evans is just unfunny most of the time and the final showdown is stuid. Certainly, it could be worse, but considering this one as well as The Tuxedo, I am afraid of Chan's future in Hollywood.

The Medallion
This is an immensely silly movie. Once you've got accustomed to the silliness, there are a few laughs and fun moments, but overall this is a terribly shit movie. I am a huge Jackie Chan fan, but it's got to be said; sometimes he makes absolute junk. I am also a huge Lee Evans fan, I've been watching everything he produces for years now, but his comedy in this is over the top and kind of aimed at children. The action is even minor-friendly, as with all Chan films, but with this it's even more so. The Spy Next Door is better than this.
In a way I am glad this movie came along when it did because it got Chan back to Hong Kong making at least somewhat serious movies again. He'll never regain his Police Story/Dragon's Forever days, but so long as he makes great spectacles (ala CZ12) or serious dramas (ala Shinjuku Incident), and not messy trash like The Medallion, then his career will at least retain some credibility.

Re: The Medallion
I remember thinking this sucked. Not sure what I'd rate it. Somewhere in the C- range I think.
