rachel mcadams is gonna be trhe next huge female star?

she probably regrets turning down the devil wears prada, though i think shes smart for staying from franchise films like the dark knight, fantastic four, get smart, ect.

That said...no films since 05; and the ones she has coming out arent exactly mainstream.

she is however only 28; so she still has time. but i guess shes still looking for her pretty woman. what do you guys think?

I think she's hot. Isn't that all that matters?

Shes hot and I love her, and I think she may a great pressence of doing almost every genre all at once so she could get almost any fan of thriller/romance/comedy/drama. Did she do to much to soon? Maybe, and maybe itll backfire, but she did enough that she is still in peoples minds.

As long as she continues to make quality movies, her fan base will grow with every picture. Many people weren't huge right away. Christian Bale and Paul Giamatti come to mind. Both have been around awhile before Batman and Sideways came along for them.

She'll be fine.

She's making movies that likely reflect advancing her craft (like The Return) rather than trying to becoming a huge mainstream star.

That said, though, The Time Traveler's Wife could very well be the next Notebook. The book is wonderfully romantic (and best-selling and popular), and it begins shooting in September, probably meaning the studio is planning on a June/July 2008 release (just like The Notebook had).

I'd say that McAdams is in it for the long run. One of those actresses that are never quite totally flashy and upfront (like, em, Lindsay Lohan), but who are consistent.

Many successful people in Hollywood turned big roles. As many have stated, she seems more interested in a long term career, then stardom, mabe she prefers working but with a quieter personal life. She not getting the media frenzy of Lohan or other young ir girls, that has to be nice, to still work and have some sense of privacy.

She'd be locked into the trilogy, though. Didn't Paltrow sign a three picture deal?

The way to become a HUGE star ala the likes of Jim Carrey, Tom Cruise, Tom Hanks, or Julia Roberts is not to have one huge role that makes you super famous, like what was supposed to happen to hayden christensen or brandon routh (though Routh should actually have some sort of a career, as he looks both looks and talent and thus far, a good rep); but rather you get famous by taking a sling of roles in smaller films and making do well.

McAdams did that with 5 films in 04-05, but 06 and 07 have been empty. If she can get another string like that, shell be a big player.

DYK: Speaking potential superstar, highly touted TYRESE GIBSON picked up a cool 8 million bucks for his 15 minutes of screen time in Transformers; or more than labuff, duhamel or fox, made combined. Good agent, or next Will Smith? U think the latter

Julia was practically no one before Pretty Woman. That made her a big star. Kirsten Dunst's career went no where after Spider-Man because everyone realized with the SM series that she, for the most part, is a horrid actress.

The key difference here is that they are dudes (eg: the wierder and older Giammatti looks the more work he'll get) -- female actresses for right or wrong have a very limited shelf life, and are pretty much toast by the time they're 40. Look at how disrespectfully media (or Wokjer's) treats Sharon Stone or Demi Moore, let alone producers no longer hiring them.

That being said, I agree with many of the comments here that being selective and not doing random superhero dreck is a good move -- and Ii was especially happy to hear Libs news that she'll be doing Time Traveller's Wife -- I've only heard great things about the novel, and have held off reading it specifically to wait to see the movie version first...

Good point with Demi and Stone, but both were playing some roels were looks were an issue. Other actresses liek Meryl Streep, Lily Tomlin, Susan Sarandon, have ocnintued to work later in life.

I think McAdams may never be a Julia Roberts type, but more an actor lieksay Holly HUnter who just keeps getting work, people know her name, but there are not 8000 photos of her on the internet. I don't see McAdams being the next It girl and followed around everywehre she goes, but being more of a consistent presence.
