Quote:
Notting Hill is a 1999 British romantic comedy film set in Notting Hill, London, released on 21 May 1999. The screenplay was by Richard Curtis, who had written Four Weddings and a Funeral. It was produced by Duncan Kenworthy and directed by Roger Michell. The film stars Hugh Grant, Julia Roberts, Rhys Ifans, Emma Chambers, Tim McInnerny, Gina McKee and Hugh Bonneville.

The film was well received by critics, and became the highest grossing British film released that year. The film won a BAFTA, and was nominated in two other categories. Notting Hill won other awards, including a British Comedy Award and a Brit Award for the soundtrack.

I've already seen this before, but I watched it again with my fiance last night. What a sunny film.

My favorite Julia Roberts' movie and one of my all-time favorite movies. It's funny and truly romantic. I like the love stories among Grant's circle of friends as much as I do the one between him and Roberts, esp. the lady in the wheelchair and her husband. My grade: A.

Less painful to sit through for a guy than most romances are.

One of my favorite romantic comedies of all time. Maybe my favorite modern romantic comedy.

One of the best romances of its kind. Of course, it is very predictable and clichéd and whatnot, but it still finds the right balance between comedy and romance while providing us with a couple that actually has a lot of chemistry. Both, Roberts and Grant are fine in this one and Rhys Ifans as the comic relief is great. An enjoyable flick.

Julia Roberts, who I normally don't care for, was great here.

I felt like killing Hugh Grant in this movie.. His extreme case of being pussy whipped and constant return to Julia Robert's Character despite her being a biotch in the movie made me very frustrated and angry.

I recently watched this for the first time in a while, and it is indeed great. Both Grant and Roberts are exceptional and they have exceptional chemistry as well.

Revisited this last week and it still holds great as one of the best romantic comedies. The comedy bit when on the face is a hit-or-miss but the one where things are awkward like the dinner scene it hits the right balance. I do notice that as the things get serious the music jumps in where it should not or hold off for one more scene. Its the chemistry between the two leads that elevates this movie from the rest, both actors tell so MUCH with their expressions its AMAZING (true to the song "When You Say Nothing At All"). The songs are SO good even when they are added too quick or randomly. The supporting cast is great particularly Rhys Ifans.
