Utterly hilarious at times, it falters occasionally, but always remains entertaining and interesting. The beginning is so well put together that the remainder of the film seems disappointing in contrast, but the film is so amusing and fun that it doesn't matter that much. Eckhart really carries the film - he's perfect in the role - and the supporting cast is universally solid. I felt the movie kinda lost something when he was kidnapped - it didn't really fit in with the rest of the movie - but the scenes after that made up for it. Very effective satire and very entertaining film.

Color me disappointed, eh. It was neither as funny or as sharp as I wanted it to be, and it seems to move at an odd pace. Furthermore you never really like Eckhart's character, or really get into anyone in the film. Scenes with his son, Katie Holmes, and the Captain are tedious. Lowe and the guy who plays Jameson(his boss) were great, but it drops dead for good periods of the film.

Meh...I didn't love it. They could have done much more with the concept, I felt.
The acting and script were both strong, as was the direction, but for some reason, this just didn't come together that well in my opinion. Still, it was above average.

A terrible waste of a golden premise.

Thank You for Smoking

I thought it might raise some new angles of the smoking industry and how society deals with smoking, but it doesn't. It's essentially just 90 minutes of saying "let people decide for themselves". Meh.

There are a few cool scenes and pieces of dialogue, but overall it's no where near as edgy and clever as it thinks it is.

Pretty great film, especially Eckhart is brilliant, one of his best roles. The film is just a really nice balance between realistic reflection and comedy. It's interesting and fun with a splendid cast, a winner of 2006.
