The fans have spoken! Sources say CBS — which has been inundated with calls from fans desperate to see their beloved Jericho back in the fall — is in serious talks to renew the apocalyptic drama about a small town devastated by a nuclear bomb.

Articles have been popping up all day. Supposedly the official announcement will be made this friday. It isn't a popular show here but figured some woudl be interested. After all those 5 tons of nuts didn't send tehmselves to NYC.

This is just insane. I can't believe it. I wonder if the 8 episodes are going to be just 8 regular episodes, or if they'll wrap the show up in 8 episodes. Either way, this is good news. I didn't invest myself in this show for nothing.

Too bad the same fans didn't do the same for "Veronica Mars", "Arrested Development", etc.

If they plan to actually end the series after that, they better wrap up the story!

Anyway, I am glad about that. I didn't see the show since the break, but read that it got better and better. Will catch it up soon.

You know what really kills me? The post-cancellation resurrection has never, ever happened to a show that was actually good. AHHHHH!

Official word from CBS

June 6, 2007

To the Fans of Jericho:

Wow!

Over the past few weeks you have put forth an impressive and probably unprecedented display of passion in support of a prime time television series. You got our attention; your emails and collective voice have been heard.

As a result, CBS has ordered seven episodes of “Jericho” for mid-season next year. In success, there is the potential for more. But, for there to be more “Jericho,” we will need more viewers.

A loyal and passionate community has clearly formed around the show. But that community needs to grow. It needs to grow on the CBS Television Network, as well as on the many digital platforms where we make the show available.

We will count on you to rally around the show, to recruit new viewers with the same grass-roots energy, intensity and volume you have displayed in recent weeks.

At this time, I cannot tell you the specific date or time period that “Jericho” will return to our schedule. However, in the interim, we are working on several initiatives to help introduce the show to new audiences. This includes re-broadcasting “Jericho” on CBS this summer, streaming episodes and clips from these episodes across the CBS Audience Network (online), releasing the first season DVD on September 25 and continuing the story of Jericho in the digital world until the new episodes return. We will let you know specifics when we have them so you can pass them on.

On behalf of everyone at CBS, thank you for expressing your support of “Jericho” in such an extraordinary manner. Your protest was creative, sustained and very thoughtful and respectful in tone. You made a difference.

Sincerely,

Nina Tassler

President, CBS Entertainment

P.S. Please stop sending us nuts :)

I never got the whole nuts bits. Were nuts part of the plot?

I only watched the season premiere plus another 1 or 2 eps. I don't recall nuts being integral to the story.

Nuts came from teh final episode where New Bern is ready to invade Jericho and teh mayor of New Bern gives them a chance to surrender and Jake replies "Nuts" as is in no.

I didn't want Surface to be cancelled. Maybe I should have started a grassroots campaign to mail in mounds of nimrod sea monkeys to GE/Universal NBC.

LOL

You know loyal as insane as it sounds if it works t works. But it wasn't just nuts. It was an online Petition. It was their corporate voicemail being full all the time. It was Nina having to change here phone number twice. It was 2 ads in the Hollywood Reporter and Variety that were paid for by fans at the cost of 16K a piece. It was buckets of actual letters and over 10,000 Emails a day and then it was getting around their SPAM filters. It was writing all of the sponsors to CBS and phone calls to them as well as E-mails and some other stuff I don't know about.

The nuts were just to try and get news stories about it in the media TBH.

I'm just jealous because loads of great shows have ended before their time and they decide to bring back Jericho?

Though I should watch more than 3 hours of it before passing judgement, eh?

For the sake of your sanity avoid the first 14 episodes. Its like The Waltons Apocalypse Edition.

Loyal, the show was fairly sucky for the first half of the season. It was a pretty decent show for a good part of the second half of the season, and then it got to be a pretty good show for the last few episodes. It took some patience, but I feel it was worth it.

Of course, I wish there had been this kind of support for Futurama (at least a good three years before the resurrection), Arrested Development, The Lone Gunmen, Veronica Mars, Drive, and countless other shows. But I'll take a good television resurrection in any form.

You knowI came in near the end of the season so I saw the good ones first. I watched the rest on Innertube. There were some OK ones in the first half like when they leave town to get medicine and that clip show was horrid and I am glad they got rid of Hawkins sidekick. the show actually got pretty good rigth where I started watching it.

And I am glad I did because if I had to hear the terms "old man" or "the package" one more time I think my skin would crawl off from over cringing.

I think the reason those shows didn't get ressurected was because of how low their fanbases were at the time of cancellation, Jericho at least had about 8 million viewers. Oh, and also because it wasn't on Fox
