see this is the difference between me and you.

whereas i'm sitting here merely pointing out my disinterest in not seeing the film but not having issues with anyone else enjoying it, you on the other hand are spending more of your time implying how one person is stupid to like one thing and not so much to watch another.

It would be equivalent to me saying

"hA! so you won't watch transformers that is meant to be an action packed extravaganza for the summer popcorn season yet are willing to watch a pretentious drama about a story thats taken place a million times before"

notice how neither of us have seen the movie we have no intent of seeing and making assumptions about their quality or their purpose.

baba, you make a good point. but... do you REALLY think brokeback got hype just because of the homosexual angle? i mean, it was nominated for 8 oscars... clearly, there is something MORE there. that's all...

I never said it was hyped up for the homosexual angle. I just said it was hyped up. Much like Crash.

I don't have issues with the hype. I have issues with the fact that as of this moment in time, there is no way I can watch the film with an unbias attitude to it.

There is another different in you and I, though. And I don't think you're stupid for not wanting to watch Brokeback Mountain. In fact, I can honestly care less. The other difference is I will at least watch Transformers sometime in the future (in theaters if someone else pays for my ticket. Then at the very least I'll have the pleasure at staring for Shia for two hours) and you on the other hand won't ever see Brokeback Mountain.

I just started thinking.. this is the Knocked Up thread. How the hell did we start talking about Brokeback Mountain and Transformers? ;)

I love Brokeback Mountain (best movie of the year it was made and damn Crash for winning. What a pretentious piece of shit) but I couldn't care less about you watching it. From what I know about you, you have good movie taste and that's all that matters.

Hilarious. Not like the funniest movie in years or something (although this can change with repeat viewings, I think; Virgin still beats it right now), but definitely a good time. Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd are rather brilliant.

Kristen Wiig rocks. OMG she was hardly in it, but she's great at playing that character!

Her character had a small role, but was hilarious. I would like to see more of Kristen Wiig.

Actually my favorite character was Rudd and Mann's older daughter. I'm not nessecarily one for little cute kids, but she was fucking adorable. Infact, if there is any one thing that I will really, really give Knocked Up, it's that the characters are all a riot. There's not a single bad egg in there, although the beard guy was far and away the weakest of the group of friends. Not sure what happened there.

Anyways, I laughed hard and I really felt a lot of the film's messages about responsibility. I am going to have to agree with bradley in that the plot wasn't the center as much as the relationship and the jokes. But even if Knocked Up is in need of a bit more structure, I gotta commend it for feeling so genuine and sweet while eliciting plenty of belly laughs. I'm not sure yet if I'd call it a comedy classic, and as of right now I prefer The 40 Year-Old Virgin, but it's still a gem.

The comedy of the year, unless Chuck and Larry with it's R rating really surprises.

Not as funny as the 40 year old virign or Wedding Crashers, but still hysterical with some awesome one liners and just actors going off in their own direction. I can't wait for Superbad. Everyone was very funny throughout and I actually thought it could have had a better resolution. Lots and lots of laughs though

Solid A, I think only trailed Hot Fuzz for me so far (that was hysterical, but an awesome movie in the same)

Funniest scene in the movie is the Doc Brown/ Delorean scene with all of them sitting at the table. I almsot choked.

That was great, as was Paul Rudd's De Niro, not the best voice, but his facial mannerisms were spot on hysterical.

Pretty much every scen Paul Rudd was in was awesome, I thought at first he was just going to be tragicallly underused, but thank God they gave him the sub plot. Rogen cursing him off and him going right into "happy Birthday" I was dying.

I loved her explanation of where babies came from much more. That was easily one of the most insane things I've ever heard :hahaha:

Overly crude and not enough wit. If I wanted to see an Adam Sandler film, Billy Madison is in my collection.

That makes absolutely no sense. Wit is a type of funny.

If something makes me laugh I don't go to a filing cabinet and check on my laugh quality meter to see if its a valid laugh.
