SM3 didn't do it, why would AWE do it, especially now that a bunch of kids didn't have school on Friday? 50% is the maximum IMO. I'd say 45%.

P3 has better WOM than SM3.

I don't agree with BJ, I'm just playing Devil's advocate here.

I disagree, I think mainstream WOM is about the same for all three of the big May films.

No way is S3 on the same plain as the other two threequels. I could understand an argument about SM3 and P3 being on the same level, but I haven't seen any indication that WOM for S3 is as good as P3 or SM3.

Of my friends to whom I've spoken, most are more disappointed with PotC3 than SM3, but still find it to be a better movie. It could b argued either way.

Oh I agree with that, I think at least Shrek and SM3 had some fun to them. Pirates was just a little too dark and odd at times to be as likable and where the Mainstream usually likes it. In my opinion, there all in the B range

SM3 increased 190% on its Friday, which means a slightly deflated Saturday increase. I expect around a 40% increase from AWE today, but comparing it to Spidey isn't conclusive.

It's okay for Pirates as it is, but the drop is quite horrible if you consider that its 3-day weekend was quite deflated by the Thursday showings. Its drop from the 3 1/2 day weekend will be close to 65%. I see a $45 million weekend. After that it'll have little time to rebound with O13 and F4-2 coming soon. It'll pass $250 million by the end of its third weekend and from then on, it'll be a long way to $300 million. It will eventually pass the barrier, but really not by much I think. It will not make more than $315 million, IMO. Maybe even less.

Solid for Knocked Up. The $35+ million predictions were always insane to begin with for an R-rated comedy with no stars, so it looks like a $29 million weekend and a free sailing to a $125 million total, like The Devil Wears Prada.

Good number for Shrek The Third. Seems to me like it might end up ahead of Pirates when all is said and done. Could end up with $320-325 million.

Wow, I can't believe Pirates 3 will become the lowest of the Big 3.....even after the first week....I was thinking $350m is still possible, and then it went downhill from there....

....and we were saying after Spiderman 3's horrendous drops that it'll be the lowest of the three.....how things change now, it's looking like it'll fight it out with Shrek 3 for the domestic crown....
