Private Practice is kind of a blah name

Addison's Anatomy was the obvious choice, I think they wanted a bit originality from Grey's though. Dr. Addison or something would've been more fitting.

Tim Daly is actually hot.

Ok. I don't mean to be negative for the hell of it, but that was the most torturous Grey's Anatomy I've sat through. For me, nothing worked.

I won't be watching Private Practices if it's anything like the preview we got tonight. It was just so sort of uninteresting and honestly, there were no characters that were worth watching or that had any type of depth... except maybe tim Daly's. And why does EVERYTHING have to be about sex??? Literally. EVERY storyline and EVERY scene in Addison's parts revolved around sex.

I also think comibing the two shows like this really took the investment value out of Grey's Anatomy. I mean, is it just me or were the switchbacks from Grey's to PP and back the other way just awkward? They didn't go together.

I'm really interested to see where Grey's is going for the last 2 episodes (especially Alex and Ava) but I was sorely disappointed with Private Practices.

Oh and PP was another Alias mini-reunion... Francie and Sark were both on it. they should have a cross episode between Brothers and Sisters and Private Practices with guest star Jennifer Garner and Victor Garber ;)

Private Practice wasn't that great, I thought. Save for Addison and Tim Daly (He's really 50? Really?) I didn't think it had much going for it. And yeah, the transition to and from Grey's and PP was awkward. I think having GA take up the first hour then PP the second would've been better for both, but then I guess we wouldn't have had that snazzy voice over at the end that described Addison's experience perfectly.

When the heck are they going to get Alex and Ava together? They've been drawing it out since March.

Private Practice will probably come into its own eventually. That was just a semi pilot, so it's not hard to believe that things weren't perfect yet. Grey's wasn't perfect when it started either.

Also, I don't think Addison's Anatomy is an obvious choice for a title. Grey's Anatomy is an obvious title choice (considering it's a title based on Gray's Anatomy, as in the medical textbook).

So, I watched the Grey's Anatomy/Private Practice episode.

Short answer? Loved it!

Long answer: I think this show was way better than the episodes of Grey's Anatomy that I watched that weren't "very special episodes". Now I'm not going to make this anti-Anatomy, because I don't hate it as much anymore, and would consider watching reruns over the summer. But, I will say that Private Practice was quite enjoyable.

Here's a few small points:

-I may have enjoyed it a lot more than some because I know all the cast members from some other show that I liked from the past. Kate Walsh (Drew Carey, The Fugitive, other appearances), Tim Daly (Wings, The Fugitive, The Sopranos), Paul Adelstein (Prison Break), Merrin Dungey (Alias, Malcolm in the Middle), Amy Brenneman (Frasier), and Chris Lowell (Veronica Mars). I don't think I've ever seen Taye Diggs in a movie or TV show. Anyway, aside from Lowell, everyone was great and I think I can definitely invest time in these characters for a TV series.

-Speaking of Lowell, that was sorta creepy, sorta icky seeing Piz (his character on Veronica Mars) without a shirt on, getting the women all hot and bothered. Now, I can understand when someone says a certain guy is attractice (example: Libs saying how Tim Daly is 50 and hot). I'm as straight as can be (I'm a guy, I need to express my heterosexuality every so often, especially when proclaiming my love for anything Grey's Anatomy-related), but I can still see it. But, I can not at all understand how anyone could find Chris Lowell attractive. Like Libs said, he looks goofy.

-I didn't know how awesome Addison was. I always loved Kate Walsh, ever since The Drew Carey Show, but I had no idea she was so good on Grey's Anatomy. One of my biggest issues with Grey's is Meredith. I hate Meredith Grey, and I possibly hate Ellen Pompeo. Here, I enjoy the show so much more because the lead character is so likeable. That's a major plus for Private Practice.

I had no complaints overall. I'll be tuning in this fall whenever it premieres.

What's with all this Chris Lowell hate/general dislike? I think he's refreshingly, or something, not so run-of-the-mill good looking. He is kind of goofy looking, but he sure is hot with no shirt. If only those board shorts were a little lower...

Sidenote, I haven't really watched any Grey's Anatomy this season, as my loyalties are firmly with CSI, but I happened on this "Private Practice" (not good name) in the "my recordings" section of the DVR so I watched it. Kate Walsh can so anchor a show, and I thought that all around it was good.

I thought the establishing shots were kind of funny after a while. Miserably grey, grim, and rainy looking=Seattle/Beautiful, sunny, blue watery oceans and did I mention sunny?=LA.

I don't know if I would watch this show next season, per se, as I don't really add new show to watch anymore, but I may stumble across it and catch the random episode now and then. Moreso if ABC suddenly allows much more nudity then now (hey, Chris Lowell looked good to my eyes, and that other goofy-ish guy, the one who likes the internet hookers, wasn't too bad looking either).

Yeah, there's the quick thoughts.

Just watched it at abc.com

Holy cow.... so many things happened by the end of the hour. I liked it overall. I can't believe they're actually going to have a wedding for the finale... that's so cliche.

And after this episode, I REALLY don't want Addison to leave. Please!!!! We need a miracle.

The writing for Meredith has been quite strong this season. And I think she deserves a Best Actress nominee too.

A very, very good Grey's Anatomy episode tonight!

Definitely a strong episode for Sandra Oh.

And a question we've been thinking about all season will finally be revealed!

McDreamy, you asshole!

I don't understand why he has suddenly started hating Meredith. You would think he'd want to give her a break in light of all the recent shit she's had dumped on her in the last few weeks.

Noooooo

How am I supposed to survive without new Grey's for 3 months?

Cristina's panic attack was heartbreaking.

Lexi Grey?

I thought the finale was sort of disappointing

It seemed like they just made everyone as miserable as humanly possible at the end of it. Like, I feel like crap after watching that.

Yes, but it seems like the decision everyone has been wondering, will Isaah stay or go, has been answered....if he left now, I don't see him coming back.

Great episode. Is George or Burke actually leaving for good? Sucks he failed his intern exam. Looks like another Grey is interning at Seattle Grace. Three long months until the new season...

T.R. Knight (George) is confirmed to be returning for next season. No word on Isaiah Washington though.

Anyways, excellent finale and easily my favorite episode of the season. September is so far away :(

I thought it was okay. I thought Christina's thing at the end was the episode's best moment, but I really feel like I have little investment in any of the other stories.

I did miss last week's episode. Don't know if that might have made the finale more palatable or not.

And I also recently watched the Private Practice episode, which I thought only half-way worked. I like Addison a lot, and I liked Amy Brenneman's character. Everybody else kind of annoyed me.

A whole lotta shit went down in that episode.

1. Izzie saying "I love you" to George: ehh, still unsure about this storyline

2. George failing the exam: VERY INTERESTING

3. Chief back with his wife: don't really care

4. Chief still to remain chief: biggest cop-out of the 06-07 TV season. Like wtf!!!!!

5. Derek and Meredith in Limbo: seriously? I thought we were over this. I thought at the end when Meredith came to tell everyone it's over she would make up with Derek.

6. Callie and Izzie: when is this thing going to get out in the open???

7. Alex and Family Stone girl: I don't seem them working out and I'm fine wit that being the end of it but if they bring her back, It would be interesting to see Alex go steady.

8. Addison: Ummmm... did they even give her a proper send-off??? I don't understand it exactly. Did I miss something?

9. Who exactly is that Lexi Grey?? Are we supposed to connect the dot or do we not yet know?

10. Burke and Christina: wasn't expecting it to end like that but if it was the end of that then it was a great way to end it. And I really hope Washington is written off the show. Seriously, there wouldn't be anything left for him to do. No chief job. No wife. Go join Private Practice; it's going down anyway.

Who else is in the running for Supporting Actress in a Drama besides Sandra Oh?? Elizabeth Mitchell? Who won/nominated last year? Sandrah Oh's breakdown at the end was easily the best scene of the season. She deserves another Emmy (oh wait... did she only win the Golden Globe? Didn't Blythe Danner win for supporting drama actress two years in a row???.... then it's definitely Sandra Oh's)

It also ran 15 minutes over. Overall, I think it was much better than last year's finale (which I wasn't a fan of) and better than Ugly Betty's finale earlier that night.

Damn Raffi, that was a schizophrenic post!

Blythe Danner won 2 supporting actress Emmys in a row for Huff. The show's gone so that's an open slot. You can take out Jean Smart too.

Last year's other nominees were Sandra Oh and Chandra Wilson (Grey's), and Candace Bergen (Boston Legal).

lol well sometimes it's hard to write in text what you can easily say orally in a minute.... so I usually write just as I would talk (which often doesn't translate and come out very well  )

anyway... on to the emmys

Candance Bergen doesn't have a chance to win if she's nominated again.
If it came down to Chandra wilson or Sandra Oh, Oh would take it no doubt. Wilson's season 2 performance was better than her season 3.

Would anyone from the Sopranos get nominated? If they did, it would be a long shot for a win. some woman named CCH Pounder from the Shield was nominated a couple years ago... I don't knof if she's stil on the show.

Most past Emmy noms in this category were comprised of Six Feet Under, West Wing, and a lone Judging Amy nom. those are all gone now so the field is wide open.

Aside from Elizabeth Mitchel and Brothers and Sisters, are there any other supporting actresses from new series that have a chance??

If Sally Fields or Callista flockhart get nominated (Fields should be supp and Flockhart lead but you never know...) it might be a showdown between one of them and Sandra Oh with Mitchel as the dark horse.

Dream List... Sally Fields, Rachel Griffiths, Katherine Hegl, Elizabeth Mitchel, Sandra Oh.
