Ummm, well he was the communications/technology station commander wasn't he? He probably knows how to get it working or make some sort of use out of it. Maybe he also wants off the island!!

I only asked as I missed the previous episode with the Russian so I was wondering if anything else was revealed.

I knew that Mikael was keeping something but nobody mentioned it so I forgot about.
Thanks for pointing it out!

Yep, I knew that wasn't what she said. Very interesting.

i asked before and i was told no but now after this week where she spoke, could Penny have been with her?
also, this is what I was getting with the russian and the telephone, what is he doing/hiding? why the need to steal the phone as maybe they could assist or now, why the need to lie above?
there has to be more to the russian???

Don't you see? Apple stole the iPhone technology from this island in 2004. That's why he wanted the phone.

There has been a lot of reference to Stephen King this year.
Quote: ON WRITING After their meeting with King for EW, the Lost creators wrote the scene in which Ben (Michael Emerson) appears to kill a bunny  it's based on a cryptic passage in King's 2000 writing guide that involves a rabbit branded with an eight.
http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,1562722,00.html
Not to mention that Stephen King seems to be Juliet's favorite author and that scene has been brought up twice this year.
It should be noted, before throwing out all of the alternate timeline theories, that Stephen King also had a short story/film about a plane that goes through like a tear in space and jumps back in time. That's called The Langoliers.

Kind of a spoilery image:

This is Ben and "Young Ben" who will play him in The Man Behind the Curtain.
Interesting thing is (highlight) Ben has a Dharma jumpsuit on

I have a feeling there isn't a logical answer to this but I'll ask anyway....
if pushing the button is the hatch was so important, as we now know it was, why did the Others leave it up to Desmond and then the Lostaways to do it? Why trust them not to mess up? I wouldn't. If it was that big a deal which I'm sure the Others knew it was, they should have their own people working round the clock on it, shouldn't they?
It might be just another loose end, but even if so, no big deal. I'm still enjoying the show and if it keeps up the quality for the rest of this season, it will have earned an emmy nomination.

Ben wanted the hatch to explode and ruin his submarine all along, I think. He's lived there since birth and clearly he's attached, this is his life.

http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/
Quote: Thanks to Sick_Passenger for the extended highlights below.
- Jin IS the father of Sun's child.. - The sperm count of males on the island is 5 times greater. - Sun is responsible for Jin's "mob-life" - It's a catch 22. - The parachutist's name is Naomi Dorrit (sp?) - The Losties are NOT in purgatory. - Other possible explanations for Naomi's comment about 815 (1. She's lying, 2. Conspiracy theory) - In the next episode she will delve further into what her mission is.
- Mikhail is alive (1. The fence was not turned up high enough to kill him, 2. He DID NOT come back from the dead)
The Brig. - The Other's are on their way to "someplace". - We will find out how Cooper got to the island. - What happened between Locke seeing his father tied up and when he said good-bye to Kate. - A lot of things will be answered.
- The flash on Hurley in Catch 22 was only a lens flair. - Think pseudo-science and borderlands of the supernatural for explanations of LOST. - They will be revisiting the psychic's predictions for Claire in the future as well as Walt's abilities. - The Others' obsession with children & pregnancy goes beyond the inability to successfully bear children on the island. - The Other's definitely have an interest in children with special abilities. That's why they took Walt. - There are two factions of The Others & and are in no relation to the hatches/stations. - They will be getting back to the statue before the show ends. Quote: This is the final paragraph in an interview with Lindelof and Kring(Heroes Creator) from the newest issue of Wizard(the comics magazine). This is the only thing having to due with what will happen in the show...everything else was just about writing and the friendship between the two writers.
Wizard: What can you guys tell us about how your shows will wrap up this season?
Lindelof: For us, I will say the construct of Season 3 started with our heroes victimized by this - at the time - unseen, malicious and malevolent force on the island of these "Other" people. By the end of the season, you will know a lot more about them and what they're doing there and why they've been preying on our guys.
There is going to be an epic confrontation between the two groups - for lack of a better word, a war - and that's where we are heading to in our season finale. Hopefully, people will be more satisfied than they were in previous seasons - there are going to be a lot of answers along the way to the mysteries that people really care about. Greatest Hits - Press Release and Guest List Quote: So this is quite a guest list....
- Nadia is back, does she have a connection with someone else? (spoiler: Does this mean Sayid is the one that dies? (Update: Look at past spoilers someone at the set of Greatest Hits claimed that Charlie saved Naomi, I'm beginning to think that they made a mistake and it was in fact Nadia, which would better explain her listing)- Rose and Bernard back at last - Danielle, Alex and Karl - We see a young Charlie and Liam and I suspect Simon Pace is Charlie's dad

Awesome episode
The revelation of the tape recorder should be interesting next week. I'm wondring if Juliet's "I hate you" at the end of it will help her case, though. I think we all know she's a mole against her will, at least in some way.

Amazing episode I thought. I found the scene with Sawyer and Locke's dad to be incredibly intense and well played out. Even though I say this every week, next week looks fucking insane.

Kate sure is a big mouth. I think Sayid should have went with Hurley's explaination of the phone although, I guess he figured she never believe it. The episode was sure dark, man Locke is sure going down a dark path. Who else thinks that if Ben is killed that Locke will take his place as leader of the Others?

Really? I thought she didn't.
Anyway
I'd like to say that Josh Holloway was AMAZING in tonight's episode. And Kate is a moron, apparently. How long did it take her to spill the beans about Naomi to Jack and Juliet, like 40 seconds?

I know I didn't think Kate was that dumb, although maybe with the tape recorder, Jack will side with Kate and the rest. If I am right about Locke this sets up the Jack vs Locke talk I have read in the TV guide.

Apart from Kate, this was one of the best episodes of the series. The Locke/Sawyer scenes were incredible - nice to finally see some payoff for their characters' backstories - and the revelations by Naomi were also quite telling. Glad to see Sayid play a bigger role too.

I have a feeling that the place that the others are going is that weird statue we saw last season...
Also, I don't think it was a "coincidence," that Rosseau was here in this episode. I said last season that she and Ben were together, and that Ben wasn't simply raising Alex as they took her. I think its his biological daughter, and that Rosseau's mysterious husband that died is Ben.

That was an amazing episode!! Had a different feel to it. The Sawyer/Cooper scene was incredible, everything that went wrong in his life suddenly blew up write there, and Cooper being dumb enough to go "blah, blah, blah" and then rip up that letter. Crazy.
