96. Them! (Gordon Douglas – 1954)



My favorite of the monster B-movies of the 50s. Who can forget the sound of the incoming ants? In this case, one of the movies where I wouldn't mind to see a remake with todays FXs.

95. The Bedford Incident (James B. Harris – 1965)



A confrontation between a Russian and an American submarine in the midst of the Cold War. Tension until the very end. Widmark and Poitier deliver two great performances.

94. The Fly (David Cronenberg – 1986)



Although I do also like the earlier film with Vincent Price, I prefer this version as it concentrates on those typical Cronenberg obsessions, like the decaying of the flesh. Also the change of man to fly is more explicit in this one, not just because of the make up, but also because more time is given to the characters to express their thoughts.

93. Fail Safe (Sidney Lumet – 1964)



Another great Cold War movie, where choices have to be taken that will decide if the world continues to exist or not. Sensational Henry Fonda!

92. The Train (John Frankenheimer – 1964)



Exciting film about a mission to recover famous painting stolen by the Nazis without destroying them. Based on a true story.

91. Starship Troopers (Paul Verhoeven - 1997)



One of the best satires about fascistic regimes (compare this film to german propaganda movies of the 30s)...oh, and the action is good too.

90. Kwaidan ( Masaki Kobayashi - 1964)



A collection of four haunting Japanese ghost stories with the one named Hoichi the Earless a real standout.

89. Paint Your Wagon (Joshua Logan - 1969)



Well, sue me! Where else can you see Eastwood and Marvin singing? The song 'Wandrin' Star' delivered by Lee Marvin is one of the greatest in the history of cinema.

88. The Eagle Has Landed (John Sturges - 1976)



One of the most watchables WW2 secret mission movies. In this one the mission is to kidnap Winston Churchill. May be considered fluff by others, but it's one of those movies I can't stop watching whenever it's shown on TV.

87. Scream (Wes Craven - 1996)



A movie that came at the right time when there was a dearth of interesting horror movies in theatres. Jamie Kennnedy's character is exactly the audience this movie was made for, If you were a fan of horror movies, you were going to enjoy this one much more, as it includes a lot of references to other classics in the slasher genre.

86. Speed (Jan De Bont - 1994)



Simple premise, but so well executed.

The 'worst' of the three.

84. Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Peter Jackson - 2001)



The 'second worst' of the three.

83. Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (Peter Jackson - 2003)



The 'least worst' of the three.

82. The Ox-Bow Incident (William A. Wellman - 1943)



Although categorized as a western, this movie shares many similarities with 12 Angry Men, where someone who may or may not be guilty is to be judged in this case by an angry lynch mob.

81. The Boston Strangler (Richard Fleischer - 1968)



An almost documentary approach to the story of Albert DiSalvo and Tony Curtis in a performance unlike you had seen him before and you never saw him again elevates this true life story thriller. Also one of the first movies to use splitscreen scenes.

80. Where Eagles Dare (Brian G. Hutton - 1968)



Another WW2 pic. What can I say? I love this genre, and this is another of the good ones with Eastwood and Burton trying to infiltrate a german castle in the mountains. Wolfenstein anyone?

I expected different list.

But pretty good nevertheless.

Actually, expected more movies from screenshot games.

Well, expect more horror is right. There are 12 movies which can be considered part of the horror genre left in the list.

And me using those screenshot shots doesn't mean necessarily that I like the movie. Basically I look for obscure stuff to stump all of you.

A varied and interesting list thus far Price.

A nice change of pace from excel's. Surprised you have LOTR just above Speed.

I really need to start watching more movies. Great list so far, and just the appearance of Starship Troopers is fantastic.
