Desmond is currently one of Lost's best characters, so more power to him! It is unbelievable how much Locke has fallen in my grace since the beginning of the series. I used to like him more than anyone else on the island, now he is one of my less favorite character (because of his ever-more-often occuring stupidity).
My favorite Lost characters as of now:
1. Sawyer
2. Desmond
3. Ben
No one else really tickles my fancy right now.

But it is odd they appeared, with the writers making them have "leadership" skills since that wouldn't have come into play a long time ago. andaroo wrote: Billy Dee Williams on Lost!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That would be the greatest episode of Lost ever.

Yep. All they have to do is find the sky hatch which leads to Cloud City.

That was a great episode, also finally they solved one of the mysteries of the show, Claire is Jack's half-sister. I am looking forward to Jack and Claire finding this out. Also the hunt for Jack got better. Locke and Sayid are starting to really disagree. And what is up with Jack? He is playing football and looks like he is having fun. The next episode looks awesome.

I think the show has finally gotten some better writting since the break. Besides the meaningless Jack episode the rest of the episodes have been good to great. I also like how the last two episodes the flash back scenes have been shorter. Sayid's hardly took up any time. Claire's were pretty short except the one where she talked with her Dad.

I think this episode gave up a ton of information.
The most important bit was the part where Mr. Pirate basically confirms that there seems to be something significant and spiritual which makes the primary set of survivors of the fuselage different from The Others or the tailies that were taken by the Others (like Cindy, the kids).
Was Jack's/Claire's father in Australia, not only to booze it up, but to disconnect his former love from life support?
And Locke knew about the C4, he had a pretty good idea that the Flame Station could explode. That should appease the people who thought he was just being a bumbling dumb ass last week. This is a throw back to last year when "Henry Gale" told Locke that he came for him.

Na, Hurley's was fun, a nice standalone episode that helped develop characters and kept me entertained throughout. One may not like an episode where the plot doesn't move forward too much while they're waiting each week for a new episode, but I bet you'll appreciate it much more when you watch it from start to finish on DVD.
Things I liked about this episode:
The fence
The death
The connection the flashback showed us. It makes a lot more sense why Jack's father went to Australia, though maybe I'm just forgetting the episode where it was more clear.
Charlie being more likable
Desmond
Characters confronting Locke's very odd behavior, to at least some extent.
The ending
Things I disliked:
Jin seems to be learning English awful quick.
Claire was really getting on my nerves up until she confronted Desmond on the rocks.
Yet another solid episode. The fence was a very cool element, and I liked that the preview only revealed it's presence, although I'd argue that's more to do with it being more marketable than catching birds and Claire. Still, if only more Lost episodes revealed so little. Marketing aside, they definitely made a lot of headway with the hunt for Jack and the beach.
And next week's episode is going to be really, really great.

Pretty good episode, the beach scenes didn't feel like filler and the jungle scenes were gripping to watch. Too bad to see the Russian go, I liked his character, though he had a pretty cool and shocking death. Right up there with Arzt. The flashback was good, confirmed the Jack-Claire connection which should play out interestingly. And the ending - glad that the Others are done with the cages and are acting civilized again, makes it much more interesting. It's got that Stepford feel to it.
Next week we finally find out how Locke got paralyzed. It's been two and a half years in the making, and I hope it will be worth it.

I'll be shocked if it doesn't involve another one of the castaways.

Maybe the people they captured are more easily brainwashed. I think leaders of the Others are murderous psychopaths, most I think are just brainwashed.

I've come to conclusion that Jack's dad is still responsible for all of this. It makes sense why he appears in so many flashbacks and why they never found him in his coffin (which STILL hasn't been addressed).

Another great episode, though I would've liked it if they reverted back to the Claire/Jack connection earlier, I had forgotten about it completley for a while. I would've gaven Claire an episode in the final few of S2 or the first stretch of S3, and have this as her fourth flashback.
I also would've liked if the advertising from last week didn't show the Russian getting pushed through, his death was expected to me because of that. I think it would've been awesome to have the fence itself a complete surprise, to have to come out of nowhere, let alone the death.
Overall though, the Russian's monologue was gold, the man who brought everyone here... I also enjoy the somewhat trickery of Locke, in real life he was an angered and tortured man and with the drug deals he's proven to be not quite a great person, but I feel that in the end he will turn out redeemed and good, or at least I hope.
And yeah, Jack's dad does continues to be an ominous and important character.

I think its a bit too early to assume that getting pushed into the fence was the end of it. I think they could come back through that same area and he could very well not be there anymore. I think he may have forced himself to do that, and may have faked it when they pushed him through the fenced area.

Very, very good episode. For me, Lost is getting back on track with these latest episodes. For me, the only down episode was Jack's.
Is anyone else kinda pissed off that we saw some fairly boring stuff about the Others up until Jack's tattoo episode, and now we've missed all the good stuff? Jack's playing football, The Other Formerly Known as The Bearded Man is carrying on with Jack. I can only hope for some answers there...
.. eventually.

I thought that when Kate looked down at him after getting over, who knows. It would be a decent way to escape them, though the guy did ask to die earlier.

I don't know, I think it would be hard to fake.
A. The humming sound when he went through.
B. The foaming at the mouth.
All easily faked. But...
C. Blood coming out of his ears.
I don't know how that's faked. But, it's Lost. I guess anything is possible.

I think that's pretty ridiculous. He stopped moving instantly, the humming sound was definitely something we've heard before, and you name me any time in human history when someone can make blood flow out their ears at will.
The russian's dead folks, sorry.

The bears were being tested by Dharma, they've addressed that they had cages for them. In the show's mythology, I could buy there being polar bears. But even if they could have a character capable of faking one of the show's main sinister sounds and able to pull of dying in such a graphic way inches away from four others, that person would have to have some sort of individual power or capability that the Others thusfar most certainly have not shown.

I really enjoyed this episode too. I suggest people stop watching the previews for next week. I didn't watch them and the whole security fence death scene was a fun shock.

Finally saw Wednesday's episode, very good. I wonder how long it'll take for Jack/Claire to find out they're siblings.
Jack throwing the football around at the end was indeed Stepford-ish.
