Hmm, figure out how Locke got paralyzed, or figure out what Jack's tattoos mean...hmmm...score one for the producers on that one!
This episode really did feel like filler after last week's great episode. They've pretty much wrapped up Jack's story 5 times over, they really have alot of ground to cover on other people...

Well she had that cameo in Star Wars. I don't think she has done any porn unless you want to count Playboy.
I thought the episode was okay, it was filler that is for certain.

Ho hum.
We really need to have more action over at the beach, cause that's where the quality has been this season, even if the others have Ben and Juliet (Two of the best characters on the show, really).

Wow what a crappy episode. I've liked most of the episodes this season but this was just bad. It reminded us of all the bad aspects of Jack and how crazy angry he gets at a flight attendant he hasn't seen in 50+ days.

Well next week's episode looks great I have to say that. And about the Others, I am interested in seeing their home again.

hmm.
that was pretty bad. probably one of the most useless episodes Lost has had. There was absolutely NO relevance between the flashback and what was actually happening. The Entertainment Weekly article I read made me really hyped for the show and after the first episode (I felt indifferent towards the second one) I'm kinda wondering if my expectations are going to be met.
You know, just because Jack is in an episode doesn't mean that the flashback has to be about him. I mean, come on. 9 episodes in and he's had 2 episodes already.
What they should have done was skip Sawyer's flashback earlier in the season (also one of the series' most useless episodes/flashbacks) and focused/paralleled the flashbacks with his relationship with Kate (I liked the part when he said something like she only did it with him because she knew he was a dead man... they should have epanded that).
Or they could have done the episode on Alex and what's his name... like how they met (on the island). Now that would have been REALLY interesting and maybe answered some more island questions.
Or they could have done it on Tom... he was in this episode quite a bit.

I loved the last couple episodes of Lost, but this episode was pure crap. You thought of an episode based on the backstory of Jack's ink. Who cares?? I don't want to sound like a bitchy Lost fan, but the only thing that happened was the Others are moving back to the island with Jack. I wonder if the other actors on Lost are even getting a paycheck this season since they have almost no screen time. If the ratings keep going down, they better start doing more shows like the last Desmond episode and less like yesterday's.

Easily the worst episode of the series. Far worse than any Jin/Sun episodes. In fact, I'd welcome a Jin/Sun episode right now. I still like Lost (although this season has yet to measure up to Seasons 1 or 2), but this was the episode that concerns me a lot. What's great about Heroes is that even filler episodes are interesting. When Lost is filler, it's, dare I say it, ... lost!
I would say that Heroes is slowly becoming my favorite show on TV. It's a toss-up between Heroes, 24, Veronica Mars, and The Office. The Colbert Report is up there too (maybe even at the top), but I mean actual scripted comedies/dramas. Everything except Heroes has disappointed me once or twice this season. Lost isn't even near the top five for my current faves, which is a shame.

I guess I'm the only one who thought the episode was pretty great?
I thought the implication that the tattooing clan had some sort of psychic/supernatural power was pretty good, the tattoos on Jack's arm have been telling his fate for years. "He walks among us but he is not one of us"... It's pointing towards the fact that Jack is slowly going to become Others domesticated, or that's how I took it. He may not see the other castaways for a long long time, though I don't know how they're going to work out Fox as the lead in that situation. I like Jack, and I thought it was one of the better character development flashback episodes. We often forget that in the first season most of the flashbacks had no relevance or connection to the island storyline, they were just developing the characters and giving them backstories. I also loved the Cindy scene, and Ben/Juliet are just great. I've warmed up to The Others quite a bit.
Maybe it was the fact that the last 2 episodes got me so hyped about Lost again, that I couldn't help but enjoy the shit out of this episode. Keep it coming.

I'm actually surprised about all those negative posts about this episode. I thought it was great and it definately had one of the better jack flashbacks.

Mostly pointless flashback and lack of developments aside, this was probably the funnest episode of the show in a very long while. Had some actually funny moments with Sawyer (Teaching Jin the only three things a woman needs to hear, hee) and an interesting plot. And the ending was was great (French lady is back!).
Next week looks awesome-er.
EDIT: Oh, and 4000th post, woo!

That was a really fun episode- loads better than last week's below-average snoozer- Jack's flashback being the reason. Hurley's flashback was pretty interesting (I busted out laughing when the chicken shack blew into smithereens- LOL). Several moments were really funny ("Red...neck...man) and the character interactions were fantastic. Great ending as well- I'm glad to see Kate solve a mystery through deduction and reason for once. Rosseau's back! Vincent too!
Next week's episode looks fantastic- it's a mythology-heavy one AND a Sayid flashback! He's one of the best characters on the show and by far the most intelligent, it seems.

Glad to see a lighter episode amongst all the dark ones recently. No Jack + Others = fun. Some great lines and situations, though the flashback was pretty pointless. Still, it was a nice change of pace.

I must be living on another planet.
I thought this episode was worse than last week's. I don't know what's going on but I'm really not enjoying it.
This was by far the most useless flashback... maybe moreso than Jack's. It was just more of the bad luck thing with Hurley, nothing more. I didn't find most of it that amusing at all either, just some LMS rip-off. The ending was just starting to get good but of course, it was the end.
And PLEASE tell me what is the thing that EVERYONE is going to be talking about tomorrow??
It PAINS me to cplain this way about Lost, I'm just getting so frustrated
Oh oh!!!!! There was one HILLARIOUS absolutely HILLARIOUS thing about this episode. In the flashback scen with the chicken place getting hit by an asteroid... Hurley said the asian reporter's name was Trisha Takanaya or something like that... isn't that the name of the "asian-reporter" in Family Guy????????? :hahaha: or am I making stuff up

Why was young Hurley a little Filipino boy, only to see Hurly grow up into a big fat white guy?!
What the hell was in that candy bar!

All of the flashbacks are useless.
I've said it before! Just show how Locke got paralyzed and then stop doing flashbacks.

I liked the episode, if the show was what I wanted it to be, then this episode would have been great. The problem is, this show has veered so far off course, that even a good episode like this doesn't view as well for me because all I want them to do is get back on track, and this episode didn't do that.
The problem is, the whole Others story line is so horribly done. The whole rescue crap is boring, it should be handled in a 3 story arc, not a 2 season arc. That and the directing is awful, even in good episodes. Kate and Saywer come back from being captured, they appear on the beach and people run up to them like they got lost in the jungle. All smiles and candy, not realistic at all.
As others said, the cast of this show is not used at all. I don't mind the 2 new regulars not getting much face time, they are slowly being worked in, and when they finally get a real part to play, they won't seem like a character just thrown into the mix for story's sake.
What I don't like is that Claire, Locke, Sayid, etc, etc are all becoming more and more throw ins. Walt and Michael were very sloppily written out of the script ... just being able to ... leave?!
The writing for this show has just gone way downhill. They took one hell of a concept, and turned it into a giant mess.

I enjoyed last night's episode, it was pretty light-hearted (at least for this show) and made for a nice break.

Yeah, the last 2 episodes have seemed like throwbacks to S1 style. What made that season great was the characters, interactions between them, and general writing and wit of them all together on an island. They didn't pack on the big storyline(finding a hatch) too much, it was the perfect balance. This was another one of those character-based episodes, what a relief it is to get away from the mess that is the Others and the sloppy direction that storyline has taken. I think this is one of the top 3 episodes of the season.
Glad to have a Sayid flashback next, he's been extremely neglected so far this year.

I definitley agree they need to focus on Locke again btw though, along with Sayid and Claire like Eagle said. I thought Locke was as primary of a character as Jack or Kate before, I guess not now?

I could have done without 57 pop culture references from Sawyer.
