Ellen Pompeo was great last night. I agree, it was her best performance on the show yet.

I'm not familiar with the Meredith's mother's character, but from what I saw last night, I thought she was a bit much.
But yeah, another solid episode, and I think that's the first time I've ever seen Ellen Pompeo that good.

Yea, Ellen Pompeo gave her best performance last night and the actress who plays her mom was the best she's been. Should probably win the Guest Actress this year as she was nominated for much less. Another solid episode overall.

Oh my gossshh, this ferry thing is intense.
I heard they just got done filming it, like a week ago. It apparently plays a role in at least three episodes.

Hooooooooooly crap.
That little girl is straight up out of The Bad Seed or something. Way to walk away when Meredith gets pushed into water and doesn't resurface (!)
I have a feeling this three episode event about the ferry disaster is going to go down as Grey's' crowning moment, which is a pretty amazing achievement considering how many it's already had. I hope it wins Best Drama at the Emmys this year.

I love when they have episodes like this one, and the Superbowl one last year, when the whole group all works together. It's all fine and all that everyone splits up to do their own things and surgeries for most episodes, but these (which are meant for sweeps/Superbowl) really are the best episodes.

 That's going TOO far.
I watched it off and on. Looked good enough. Although, I didn't feel much for the cliffhanger. I doubt anything serious is happening to the star of the show. Anyone else, and I'd think it was possible. But not Meredith.
I'm probably gonna watch the full episode tomorrow, if it's a 3-parter. I promise not to be mean!

Best episode of the season so far, and one of the best the show has ever aired. Holy shit, what an intense episode.

Just when you think Meredith finally has less to whine about, she starts falling into water...

Meh, I thought it was good, not great. BIG DISASTERS don't really do a whole lot for me, in terms of dramatic tension, at least, in a post-ER, post-bomb-going-off-in-the-hospital era.
Grey's does have a knack for picking the best Snow Patrol songs, though.

^^^I agree with the snow patrol thing. Chasing Cars in the season 2 finale was utter perfection and one of the only things I liked about that episode. The one in this episode was alright as well.
I really liked it. The first 10 minutes were SO amazing, even before they see the disaster.
Is it just me or was Sandra Oh just drop dead hillarious when she kept looking to Meredith from her locker waiting to tell her but being shot down every time?
I must say that was one surprising cliffhanger. I do really wonder, though, if anything serious would happen to hear, like a major injury.
Sorry Mr. X but I, too, am pulling for Grey's to win the Emmy. It's in its 3rd season and it just keeps topping itself. I really think last nights Betty and Anatomy proved why they both won Drama and Comedy at the Globes.

I'm about 3/4's through the latest episode (aka Ferry Disaster episode). And I can't believe I'm going to type this.
I ... really like it... so far. And not even because of the whole ferry incident. The characters aren't as annoying to me. I know they're all serious, but I even smiled during the first ten minutes, before the ferry was introduced into the plot. Especially Yang trying to confront Grey about her engagement. Loved that part.
... I feel like I need to buy the first two seasons on DVD, and somehow see the rest of Season 3. The Super Bowl episode (which I thought was great) didn't even make me want to do that.

I had to come read what you had to say about Greys. I'm just so ashamed.

I am too. But I can't help it. I really liked it. It could just be the mood. I may loathe it tomorrow.

Maybe this will make you hate it again. [spoil]Denny - the dead guy, who is responsible for much of my loathing of the show to begin with - is going to have a guest appearance in an upcoming episode.[/spoil]

[spoil]I'm hoping that's a flashback.
And, I saw the season finale last year, and hated the Denny stuff. So... yeah. Don't get too excited. I'm not exactly in "Love Mode". It's not my McLove.
CRAP! I'm falling under its dark spell... I must escape!![/spoil]

[spoil]The thing I hated so much about Denny to begin with was he was barely even a character and then suddenly Izzie was in love with him. So what the hell are they going to flashback on? The milisecond of their relationship that wasn't already shown on screen?[/spoil]

I hope what you guys are discussing is not true. I hated that plotline all of last season. it almost made me give up on the show.
