Bye bye Standoff. YOu wouldn't think this debuted to 13 million viewers in the first place.

How awesome would it be of GG beat Standoff next week?
Hopefully FOX will leave it on until then.

I still don't understand what Fox was thinking putting Standoff at 8. It was doing bad at 9, with a lead-in. What did they think would happen at 8?

It was suppose to air at 8 all along, but they thought that airing it at 9 (After House) would give it an audience that would stick when it moved to its original time. So much for that.
I'm sure things will be better for FOX when they replace it with House repeats in a couple weeks.

I know, what morons. They were clearly hoping for a "Bones" effect (though Bones led in to a massive American Idol results show).

Is that a low for an original The Unit?

But what is Fox's reasoning in not using one of their few successes as a lead-in for as long as they can? They want their shows to fail.

I think the new shows they desperately want to keep are Justice and Til Death (most likely the most expensive ones as well).

Why didn't CW repeat Veronica Mars, considering Gilmore Girls had a repeat.

Because Veronica Mars is going through three-story cycles this year. They will air a nine-episode mystery, then something like a 7-episode mystery, followed by the final six-episode mystery of the season. In between, there will be repeats or possibly other shows to fill the time. Kind of like what "Lost" is doing this season, only "Lost" is doing it in two lop-sided cycles of 6 episodes for 2006, and 16 episodes when it returns in February.
It's refreshing to see the positive reaction to Mars building from GG last night (even if GG was a repeat). It's all gloom and doom on Berman's message board.

I have two people on ignore over there. I should really just stop reading beyond the ratings. But TWoP is actually leaning towards optimistic, since so many of them though it was going to fall much harder.

Really, it could have. I was really expecting worse when I first read Berman's column this morning (when he listed VM as a loser, before he posted the viewer numbers and 18-49 demo). It may only be 50,000 more viewers than a repeat of GG, but it's still good news. At this point, it needs Gilmore Girls, but it's not relying on it for ratings.

And let's not forget what it was doing last season after repeats of Top Model. We know it's not a show that can really stand on it's own, but it's improving in that respect.

Starting last night, House was/is back at its normal time (9/8pm Central). I'm so very glad, too. 7pm just seemed too early for it....
