The CW will keep Veronica Mars on the air despite miserable ratings because of critical raves? Whatever helps you sleep at night.

No more chances for our favorite sassy sleuth. Raves can sometimes (as in this case) buy you a season or two.

I should reiterate that I would love nothing more than for Veronica Mars to become a huge hit.

Unless of course they go all Lost on us.

ill reiterate how much i didn't really 'feel' this episode and to be frank i don't think i'll feel the whole rape thing at all. i'm happy it's the first arc so it will be over with. but i don't feel compassion to the story or characters its currently effecting. but that being said i've now seen the ep. 3 times and it did get better with each viewing.

and if it pulls runway numbers i'll be devestated.

I thought the teaser felt very much VM. The rest of it was a bit off for the current fans, but they were trying to pull in the new viewers. The word is that next week is supposed to be back to real VM.

You mean Cormac Fitzpatrick? Liam's brother? Kendall's lover? Who was using Keith to find Kendall so he could kill her and take her money?

Loved tonight's premiere! Very fun and entertaining. It was more like the first season of Veronica Mars. It should be better than the second season.

Ok, well some good news. Apparently (I got these figures from TWoP, so I'm not sure where they got them from) VM retained 83% of Gilmore Girl's 18-34 demo, and built on the male 18-34 demo by 23%, and male 18-49 by 2%. So the demos look good. This may get them to change their marketing strategy a bit and stop with the girly Tuesday nights thing.

Anyone feel better about the slightly better ratings that were reported today in Marc Berman's column? I don't know why, but it doesn't look as bad. It's obviously not what it could and should be doing, but it's not a miserable number.

What does everyone think of this avatar from the new opening credits? I redid the old one, to just show "Tuesdays 9/8c", so I might go back to that one if this doesn't look good. Let me know what you guys think.

I happen to love the look of the new credits, and am tired of Bell's finger. I need to replace my sig soon.

Yeah, as much as I liked the premiere, this episode was much more classic Veronica Mars. And not season 2 classic. The mystery is already better than last season. I mean, I didn't mind the bus crash as much as other people, but this one is definitely more personal for Veronica. Even without feeling like Parker's rape is her fault.

But Wallace and Logan! They're best friends! Sorta!

Rider Strong is scary. If he's around more than one episode, he's definitely going to be a suspect at some point. Samm Levine was nice to be so understanding, but come on. He was enjoying it far too much.

I really enjoyed last night's episode as well. I think it's doing a great job at making it simple enough for new viewers to tune in this season yet not diminishing in quality. I'm sure if it gets picked up for another season it will go back to the way things were (though not quite S2 territory, which is good), but for now I can't blame them for wanting to make it easier to follow. This is their last chance to bring in the viewers or the show will be over. I'd have a problem with it if the show was sucking this season, but I'm really liking it.

According to Berman over at his forum (http://www.pifeedback.com), VM apparently kept its numbers from last week. 2.4/3 out of Gilmore's 4.0/6. So I'm taking that as good news.
