Rough projections if your theater is the norm for the country?

Below norm, and it is inflated due to IMAX numbers. This theater does strange, strange business. I'd inflate the second and third numbers slightly, deflate the first by half, and then do projections... too complicated to be bothered with, usually.

Just sharing some relative info, but I don't think it is worth much, to be honest.

My 16-screen theater in Austin, TX

The Guardian (2 prints, 1 interlock all day)

12:15 - 48
12:45 - 24
3:30 - 55
4:00 - 51
6:45 - 125
7:15 - 153
9:45 - 135
10:15 - 107

Total - 698 ($5200)

The interlock ended up not being needed, but it did OK for a September Friday, should be 5~6 million.

Open Season (2 prints)

12:20 - 27
12:50 - 2
2:40 - 26
3:10 - 25
4:55 - 79
5:25 - 65
7:10 - 120
7:40 - 120
9:30 - 32

Total - 496 ($3300)

This did OK also, should have a massive Saturday increase IMO, may have about 5 million for today.

School for Scoundrels (1 print)

11:55 - 10
2:20 - 35
4:45 - 21
7:30 - 46
10:10 - 87

Total - 199 ($1429.75)

Seems like it was good booking for my theater, didn't break triple digits, but it may still make 3 million today.

Jackass: Number 2
(2 prints)

12:25 and 12:55 - 9
2:45 and 3:15 - 31
5:00 and 5:30 - 26
7:25 and 8:00 - 102
9:40 and 10:20 - 187

Total - 355 ($2705)

I don't know why they had lumped attendance for this movie, but oh well, managed to about double Scoundrels.

Jet Li's Fearless

12:05 - 9
2:30 - 23
5:05 - 33
7:55 - 90
10:35 - 94

Total - 249 ($1843)

This did better than Scoundrels too.

Last Kiss

12:00 - 5
2:25 - 4
5:20 - 22
7:45 - 51
10:20 - 37

Total - 119 ($867.50)

Flyboys

12:35 - 16
3:40 - 13
6:50 - 58
9:55 - 21

Total - 108 ($722)

The rest of the movies did under 100 admits, so I'll summarize them all now.

The Guardian - 698 ($5200)
Open Season - 496 ($3300)
Jackass: Number 2 - 355 ($2705)
Jet Li's Fearless - 249 ($1843)
School for Scoundrels - 199 ($1429.75)
Last Kiss - 119 ($867.50)
Flyboys - 108 ($722)
Black Dahlia - 76 ($563.50)
All the King's Men - 69 ($470.50)
Invincible - 66 ($435.25)
Gridiron Gang - 54 ($423.50)
Hollywoodland - 44 ($346.50) 2 evening shows
Everyone's Hero - 15 ($85.75) 3 matinee shows
The Covenant - 10 ($80) 1 evening show

Total Attendance - 2558 ($18472.25)

It was an average September Friday, not good not bad. ;)

Weekends without 20m openers have become uncommon over the past couple years, but recently we have seen a lot of them. sigh...

I think both Guardian and Open Season still have a shot at breaking 20 million, Saturday increases should be healthy for both. ;)

At least next weekend it looks likely we'll have two movies top the mark.

And where did Scott go?

I was right about spill-over at Lincoln Plaza Cinemas.

Last four shows of the night for The Queen sold out,

spilling over to

Last three shows of Last King of Scotland sold out

spilling over to

Last show for Half Nelson sold out.

Crazy stuff.

I don't know why you guys care so much about the big three wide release openers, anyone could have told they wouldn't be stunning. Its the limited releases this weekend that are stealing the limelight!

Sold out.

Ended up seeing School for Scoundrels. Sold out, but it was a 200-seater.

The Illusionist
7:30 show, 120-seat theater, sold out.

Trailers
Stranger Than Fiction
Catch a Fire
The Prestige
Babel
The Holiday

Movie
I really liked The Illusionist, an enjoyable blend of romance, mystery, and intrigue. Edward Norton's accent is slightly inconsistent, but his acting is not - Norton is as good as ever. Paul Giamatti, like Norton, delivers a performance consistent with his abilities, while Rufus Sewell is effective as a sneering, petty individual. Jessica Biel easily draws the camera's attention with a rather graceful performance, something not many would expect based on some of her past film choices. And the ending actually makes sense, despite being seemingly complicated upon reflection. Overall, would easily recommend this movie. B+

Long story short, Scott won't be able to post crowd report information from now on due to policy from theater management.
