Gladiator goes Medieval...

All the trailer showed were a compound 5 sequences, that's it.

And it seems that since he made Gladiator (an atrocious joke of a film), Scott has absorbed quite a bit of Jackson's ideas, no? Say, that catapult scene at the end?

I hope Eva Green hasn't been relegated to the position of an Arwen, just staring and crying...

I still think this will be a bomb. Americans dislike epics without hobbits and elves. This has neither hobbits nor elves, just a hairy Orlando Bloom and apparently cheesy dialogue that could give Troy and Alexander a run for its money.

A D for the trailer; unoriginal and uninspiring. And boring.

Interesting, but rather poorly done trailer. Can't say it interested me in the film though. I'll probably still see it, though.

This looks AMAZING...........though I am a sucker for sweeping shots of vast armies 8) . There is nothing wrong with the dialogue being delivered in the trailer. The subject matter is epic and thus, the lines are suitably epic-y and delivered with seriousness, as they should be. It may seem cliche nowadays after having been bombarded with these types of films recently, but what can you do? Kingdom of Heaven looks like it will deliver some of the sweetest battle scenes ever put to film at the least.

- It looked really well photographed, I will be surprised if it doesn't get a cinematography nom next year. I bet it has some breathtaking scenes.
- The actors seem to be doing a good job.
- It's a genre that the public keep rejecting lately, yet they keep making these big war movies. The public is sick of war (IMO) and just wants fun distraction. So I expect it to do alright but not be a big hit, like Last Samurai.
- Orlando Bloom is a weenie and doesn't have the strength/gravity to pull off a role like this.
- Might seem too British to Americans. Yes Gladiator had English actors (and I like English actors in general personally) but Crowe being an Aussie and having a kind of transatlantic accent really helped sell it to Americans.
- Seems to lack a strong woman role, based on that trailer only.

I expect it to do somewhere in the Last Samurai-Troy area.

And everyone is entitled to that opinion. I, personally, wouldn't go as far as to call it bad yet. It doesn't look that great though.

I didnt say it was bad i just said it looks like shit. There have been films that when i saw their trailers i thought they looked like shit but when i saw the films they were great.
examples:
Kung Pow
Ricochet
The Italian Job
Shaun of the dead
Sinbad

Gotcha. My mistake.

Haven't seen most of those, but I thought Sinbad looked decent in the trailer, and it was beyond terrible when I saw it in theaters. That is assuming we are talking about Dreamwork's disaster last summer, Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas.

Well I was looking forward to this for a long time being its a Ridley Scott film with epic battles in it, but the trailer was horrible. After seeing one of the worst films in modern history (Alexander) I'm nervous about seeing another long boring dud. God knows I will not be seeing New World, but I will still check this one out being that it has the forst weekend in May slot which usually means big bucks.

Probably, but I thought that even before the trailer. I just don't really like War films.

If the trailer is any indication, I'll skip this one. I see a repeat of Alexander in terms of quality.

That was one long trailer. Looks like it could go either way on the good/bad scale.

I thought it was pretty good. I wasn't sure about Bloom as leading actor here but I liked him here.

Orlando, would you like to actually try a movie for people who can act? Or are you too scared that you may either not make a whole lot of money, or that people will find out that without $150 million budget films, you're nothing.

*Thousands of pre-pubescent girls have just erupted in a frenzy over Mr. X's Orlando bashing*

Seriously, why can't he try something different? In his short career, he has Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings trilogy and Troy to his credit. Now, don't get me wrong. If you want the riches and famousness, Orlando is on his way to an early retirement plan. But, integrity and dignity never comes from nothing but action movies. But hey, who am I to judge? I'll be awaiting his first role that requires major acting, and not reliance on special effects. Even Will Smith, the king of starring in big budget science fiction films, did Ali.

Well having said what you just said, I would have to say that Chris Nolan also borrowed from Peter Jackson for the BATMAN BEGINS Trailer with the opening shots of the trailer showing sweeping shots of the Mountains like Tibet and sword fighting as well between Neeson and Bale.. Folks, Directors and studios do borrow from one another once inawhile and it's nothing new..
