Well, at least that andaroo sequel is quite an improvement, hehe.

I think I gave Phone Booth a B-/C+.
It was good but Colin Farrell irritated me, not a good thing considering the movie was essentially him, him, him for an hour and a half.

Eck, I might rent this, but it still just doesn't quite seem worth it. Oh yeah, and Red Eye was pretty goofy, only rising above the quality of some mid 90s thriller you'd change the channel of 30 seconds in on USA because of the leads.

Despite all its flaws, and it has many of them, I still found Flightplan enjoyable. Jodie Foster is good enough, though the distraught, screaming mother schtick grows tired after awhile, and Peter Sarsgaard played off Foster well. You can fly a double-decker airplane through the plot holes - i.e. how exactly did Sarsgaard get the girl's boarding pass out of Foster's pocket? Why does no one else besides the accomplice check the flight manifest? Do commercial pilots really have immediate access to $50 million dollars? and there are a number of truly bizarre moments: anything involving the other passengers, especially the random voiceovers like "what's she doing?" "she never gave up," "it's not like she lost a Palm Pilot," and the fat guy who would get randomly indignant and fight with the Arab red herrings. And the two flight attendants who wanted to get it on in the hatch seemed like they were transplanted from a Friday the 13th flick. But still, the movie looks good, the atmosphere is positively creepy, and it's a fun ride even though it's not ultimately satisfying or plausible in the end. overall - B-

It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, but it was a bit average. Foster delivers an intense performance as the mother, and she fits well into the thriller genre. Even though a part of me was happy (and kinda shocked) to find out that the daughter was alive all along, the movie unravels in the third act. It's almost as if Schwentke's direction is so good that our anticipation for what's going to happen far exceeds what actually does. There are also some lapses in logic that are unforgivable.
Cool plain though.

Certainly don't think this deserves all of the hate it is getting. There is nothing special about it whatsoever, but it's good ol' B-film fun. Some people in this thread have given A's to movies I consider INFINATELY more worse than this film. Flightplan has some good technical aspects, and the cast is really strong. Foster, Saarsgard, Bean, Christensen! *melt* What a lovely cast for a regular mainstream film.
On to the film: Very good use of tension and music; even the cinematography in places is surprisingly very well done. The entire sequence starting with getting onto the plane from Foster losing her daughter was remarkably well done. The entire sequence was just pitch perfect; it introduced all of the characters, added prominant background people, and flowed so nicely. The plane is beautiful. Great work on the sets, creating a plane that was worth using for this type of plot. And contrary to general thoughts from other people, it isn't the actual ending (in terms of actual plot) that I didn't like, it was just the execution/direction of it. Meaning, the plot was good and I would have liked it to the very end using the same script, but it feels like suddenly a new director takes over. The flow stops, the cinematography drops down to your usual average film, and things feel rushed/hollow. The attention to flow and craftiness seems to lack, so I blame the director and others, not the screenplay writer (not that the screenplay was anywhere near good, I just didn't think the ending was as ridiculous or out of place as people majorly hyped before the film even opened). Jodie Foster isn't at her best, but she will still so very good. Saying "she isn't at her best" means very little since she is so high up already. Saarsgard is a definate stand out, but isn't used very well. Oh, and Sean Bean is simply a joy to watch on screen. He's awesome.
So overall this is a B film.
Sean Bean: A+
PEACE, Mike.

Wow. #2 on the worst movies of 2005 list for me. I guess me and Maverikk do agree sometimes after all. It was just terrible in every single way. That includes the normally strong Saarsgrad and Foster. At some parts, I was laughing at how annoying and lame it seemed to be. Like when Foster is running down the hall in slow-motion screaming "NOOOOOOOOO.", and the scene where she's carrying the child away from the plane at the end. Did we really need that stuff blown out of porportion? It just seemed pathetic.

It did it's job. Nothing extraordinarily memorable....reading through some of the reviews, it took me a while to remember specific parts of the movie mentioned (which isn't too normal, I have a great memory). Anyway, It was entertainging. I, like Box, wish it could have reflected on the situation a bit more, but for what it was, I enjoyed it. It is FAR superior to the last missing daughter suspense thriller "The Forgotten" which was absolute trash. C'mon. It's Jodie Foster, Peter Saarsgard, and Sean Bean! You can not go wrong with them!

An absurd thriller that does manage to build up some suspense, and then destroys it all with the terrible ending. The ending is so bland that it effectively ruins the story, which was somewhat interesting up until that point. Instead of taking a less traveled, more intriguing road, the story opts for the predictable route, including an obvious villain and boring motive. It's a shame, as the beginning is quite tense and claustrophobic, and develops the story nicely. Unfortunately, it quickly dissolves into another generic action flick in an enclosed space. Very disappointing.
For some reason Jodie Foster, who is very picky about her roles, chose this one, which is basically Panic Room done worse. She doesn't do much but grunt and whine about her child. Peter Sarsgaard looks rather bored, as does the entire supporting cast, save for Sean Bean, who is the only one who stands out at all. Indeed, he's the only one who seems to be putting something into his unfortunately small role. The direction and cinematography are impressive, but hampered by the dreadful script and sub-standard acting. All in all, an unfortunately generic thriller.

Jodie Foster is pretty good in this movie, but she doesn't pull this off as well as she did in Panic Room. The first half was pretty good but the ending went downhill. Overall, a decent film.

Yea, this is pretty much one of the dumbest films i've ever seen. One of the worst of last year.
