Materials Girls is not going to do so well due to lack of any form of advertising.

Well I doubt SLITHER had a cheesy line like, "I've had it with these motherfucking snakes on this motherfucking plane" either . That actually looked like a "good" horror comedy. Though I'd rather SNAKES be goofy and laughable than a serious creature feature because they most always fail. ANACONDA and ANACONDAS should have been really fun, but both were disappointing and didn't feature enough snake action. They were too dull. I'm sure this will be better too, but I hope it's stupid fun like FREDDY VS. JASON and doesn't try to be serious, which I'm afraid it will, and that will ruin the fun. I do want to see it, and probably will next weekend, though I wouldn't want to admit to anyone at work that I want to see it . That would be embarrassing. Someone who wants to see this would look stupid to the people I know. I think it should be entertaining, unless it ends up trying to be a serious thriller. I'm one of the few people who likes to laugh at cheesy movies, and I hope this is one.

Material Girls certainly seems way too high.
Invincible will do better, c'mon it's an inspirational football flick at the start of the season.
Gridiron Gang should start off better as well.
The Guardian will be closer to Ladder 49 numbers than to this.

Invicible yes its probably underpredicted and certaintly looks better than Gridiron Gang.
Ashton Kutcher is no Joaquin Phoenix and Kevin Costner is no John Travolta. Well forge about the last part about Costner and Travolta comparison since they are both razzie winners. Anyhow I dont see Guardian doing better than Ladder 49

Not better, but not $13 million either.

Gridiron Gang looks about right.
Invincible should be a lot higher, IMO.
Wicker Man is a little low, but it's not going to make these $20m+ predictions either.

Again Invincible just looks bland, tv spots do nothing to get people excited and another football film that will be bigger is coming out very soon afterwards, both wont do over 50m, just one.
SOAP keeps on falling.
That seems REALLY good for Accepted imo.
Also I dont get how 5m for Material Girls is high.

You're right, I wouldn't . A few of them are actually good friends and I don't want to look like a moron wanting to see some stupid mainstream movie. It would ruin my reputation as a film snob .

MTC's numbers seem fine, and I tend to go with the idea that if MTC's is lower than RS' for a film, go even lower, and if it's higher, try higher than that as well.
$5m is pretty much the ceiling Material Girls can make, given the performance of The Perfect Man and Raise Your Voice, and a 1500 theaters mean the owners realize that too. Should do $3-4m.

The single "Bring It" from Snakes on a Plane is currently 38 on the Billboard top 100 for whatever that's worth.

This is pretty much what I do, though I think SOAP may fall between MTC & RS this weekend. The $8M drop on RS concerns me some, even if RS isn't historically as accurate as MTC. I wouldn't be surprised to see Material Girls do less than $3M, as there seems to be absolutely no interest in it. I still think both trackings are too high on Accepted, but sometimes these kind of films with no star power do well.

I don't understand why Material Girls only got 1,500 screens. It would've been much better with 2,500. It's going to flop now. Poor Hilary, and I actually think it looks good. Snakes on a Plane is going to butcher the competition. The buzz is so amazing.
