I'm guessing you're referring to You, Me, and Dupree as one of the "guy flicks" - if that is true, I strongly disagree - it was an out and out "couples flick". In the audience I saw it with, out of almost continuous laughter, there were actually more audible women's laughing - responding to the many hilariously true observations of married life...

I am married as well and I didn't really see many true to life marriage observations.

Lets not jump to conclusions with that last statement.

I saw Prada, thought it was good, though dragged in the end. Very Predictable, but until She started to be great at the job, I thought the movie was a lot of fun. B+

Boosted by great performances from Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt (and a good performance by Anne Hathaway, whose character didn't annoy me as much as some people here at KJ), the movie is fairly enjoyable, but not something I'd see again.

I assume that Meryl Streep will be the nomination that people will be quietly carrying through till the nominees are announced, and she'll end up being nominated for Best Actress.

Grade: B+

Despite its predictable plot the movie works with what it has surprisingly well. Meryl Streep is of course terrific, Emily Blunt is a scene-stealer and someone who hopefully will continue to get good roles - had I not known beforehand I don't think I would have recognized her as the girl from My Summer of Love, the characters are so different. Anne Hathaway was pretty good too, nothing groudbreaking or original but better than average for a chick flick. My main qualm with the film was Mr. Eyebrows aka the Simon Baker character, every scene with him in it completely, and I mean completely, dragged. It wasn't funny, interesting, I didn't care. Adrian Grenier was adorable and I love seeing Tracie Thoms in anything since she's hilarious. Paced well, clever writing, fitting music selections and just a very solid entertaining entry for this genre. I give it a B+ overall.

I should also add that this movies success provides a lot of hope for female lead chickflicks. It really defied the odds of the genre and at the same time re-position Meryl Streep as a major lead actress. She's been spending too much time in supporting roles lately.

The movie is fantastic! It's like 10 times better than Working Girl was, and Ms. Streep is exceptional as the intimidating Miranda Priestly, a performance that should get some considerations for awards. Personally, I thought that Anne Hathaway was brilliant, and based on her powerhouse turn here, I'd be expecting to see much MUCH more of her in the future!

I kept trying to place the snobby British first assistant during the entire movie, but couldn't do it. I thought for sure that I'd seen her before. Turns out that I was wrong, but she was perhaps my favorite in the film.

The script was tight. The best screenplay of the year, so far. That was a strength with In Her Shoes, and you might recall how much I liked that movie, but this was even better. I struggled with the grade, but only because I was fighting the fact that I was about to give a chick flick a higher grade than X-Men 3, a movie that I loved, but you know what, I can't deny a job well done.

I loved it, of course. Meryl Streep is absolutely 100% perfect as Miranda Priestly...if this role does not earn her an Oscar nomination, there is perhaps no justice in the world. Anne Hathaway is solid as Andy, but outshined by Streep in every scene they appear together. Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt are absolutely delicious in supporting roles. When a scene features Streep/Tucci/Blunt or a combination of the three actors, it crackles with energy. Just a great time. A-

I was very dissapointed I have to say. Maybe I had too high of expectations, or maybe it just wasn't all that. Streep was great, Hathaway was decent and Tucci was good but that was about it for the cast. The screenplay was good but very, very, very shallow. It just didn't work for me in the end. Good, but far from great. B

Well I liked it a lot. For a light and breezy chick flick, I actually found it to be pretty well made as well, moreso than most other movies in it's genre. Nice screenplay and solid direction, I thought.

Meryl Streep was great, but I actually don't think she was as magnificent as everyone else here is saying, to be honest. Bitch done well, Streep being Streep, really. I actually preferred Stanley Tucci in his role, he was just brilliant. I wish he would get supporting actor buzz at the end of the year, I haven't seen the gay guy portrayed better anytime recently. Blunt did well in a comedic role as well, even at the start when she's supposed to be the opponent, you even like her there.

Hathaway has been very understated as well, I loved her here. The truth is that the character complexities did not go deep on that character, she just had to be the standard fashion assistent, and she did great. I especially loved how as the movie went on, you could see her transformation, it wasn't just her look that changed to fit the Miranda biz, but herself to go with that. She evidently loses the grandma's sweater persona, becomes someone who could take over in the future as a fashion beast, if she wanted to.

A few issues I have with the film is that while it is a breezy and fun watch, ultimately it never amounts to much more. It never sustains any emotional impact, it doesn't really handle characters in a deep way, it's just mostly a popcorn chick flick. With that being said, there's nothing wrong with excelling in that area.

Also, I had issues with the ending. I didn't like how after making all those sacrifices and completley changing into this ruthless assistent, she just walks away. I mean, she denied Emily her dream that she worked her ass off for, and once she has it she throws it all away in a waste. It was just cliche and predictable, especially that scene with the boyfriend at the end, gah. I think it would have been much more effective if the movie ended with Andy riding in the limo with Streep as fully transformed, she has become this bitch person, and now there's no going back. In that case you'd have a classic Michael Corleone thing going, and it would've been perfect.

I finally get to see 'Prada and thankfully it didn't disappoint. Streep really was perfect in the role, i can't think of anyone else who could have pulled it off. So many quotable lines!

- Move at a glacial pace, you know how i love that
- I just started this new diet. Basically I don't eat anything, and then when I feel like I'm going to faint, I eat a cube of cheese

Yeah it dragged a little towards the end, but it was still great fun. I think this will be immensely rewatchable.

A mixed bag for me. The first half was pretty amusing but the second half was like a movie I have seen a thousand times by now. Hathaway gave a good performance and Streep was great but I thought she got too much praise for her part. C+

The movie was always interesting but it never really clicked with me. I completely loathed the friends and boyfriend due to their clunkiness as characters. Meryl Streep was good and often bitingly funny and Hathaway was good as always. My main problem was that none of the characters changed or at least stayed in a changed state.

C/C+, but it had potential to be much higher.

Well, this is no high art, but still a perfectly entertaining flick even for a guy. Meryl Streep delivers a brillaitn performance that has more layers than it first seems. Truly, her character is mostly over the top, but Streep manages to put some sentimental and more serious touches to it than meets the eye at first. Anne Hathaway is decent in her role, but completely overshadowed by Streep's character. Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci delivers very nice little turns, but both of Hathaway's blokes (Baker and Grenier) are very bland. The ending is of course expected and fairly clichéd, but so is the whole idea of the film to begin with and it never disturbes the fun. I had my fair share of laughs and grins, most of them thanks to Streep's wonderful performance which will deservingly be nominated for an Oscar.

I had really high hopes....and was disappointed. Some of it was funny, but all the scenes of Anne Hathaway's home life (Tracie Thoms, Adrien Grenier, etc.) were such a draaaaaaaaag. They were unnecessary and destructive; they only made the movie more cliched and run-of-the-mill. It was a shame.

So ultimately....a missed opportunity.

If Streep really gets Oscar attention for this I will be really pissed.
