How'd you get them, makeshift? I can't seem to find them on the site that Archie mentioned.

eDonkey.

I REALLY recommend you to refrain from using that one. One of the unsafest of its kind nowadays.

How so? I've used it for... two years now and have had zero problems.

It used to be very safe, but over the last 3-4 months or so, the number of people busted with EMule and eDonkey increased quite a bit. I uninstalled it a while ago. Like it was with Kazaa one time, eDonkey/eMule seem to be the next on the list.

Ooooo. So you mean RIAA unsafe? I don't use it to download music, anyway.

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend using any P2P for downloading music anymore. Not when there are so many other, better alternatives.

Yeah, RIAA and MPAA as well. As far as spyware goes, it's okay.

Anyone watch this week? I didn't yet. I'm almost scared to. I'll probably have the one lone positive review again.

Huge improvements over the last one I saw

"Battleground" with William H Macy started out slow but got interesting towards the end. Its pretty depressing too, its not really horror for anyone expecting it but more like the twilight Zone
Grade :B

"The End of the Whole Mess" was interesting and depressing at the same time, its also the best episode thus far
Grade:A-/B+

Hmm, those sound pretty positive. I'll try and watch them today.

And, I think you got the name wrong on the first. "Battleground", I believe, was the name of the first episode last week, with the little army men.

Oh. And, I rewatched "Crouch End". Let's just say I must have been really excited about "Battleground" when I first watched it, since I watched both back-to-back. It didn't quite hold up the second time around.

But, I still loved "Battleground".

I need to do some catching up...

Battleground - C+
Crouch End - D
Umney's Last Case - C-

I have the other three sitting on my computer. Hopefully I'll get around to them this weekend. Umney's Last Case was sort of interesting, but it's a stretch to call it horror.

Sadly Nightmares and Dreamscapes ranks nowhere near Masters of Horrors. Hopefully that one serial killer show thats supposed to be on Showtime would be much better, I cant remember the name but its coming in fall

I read somewhere that Stephen King wanted to do an episode or two of Masters of Horror, but was rejected, which is how Nightmares & Dreamscapes came about.

Anyone know if this is true?

Just watched Umney's Last Case. Not really a great episode, and certainly not horror. Macy is good, but I can't say much else.

Best one so far, but still not that great. Definitely not horror, too.

So the one I was most looking forward to turns out to be the biggest disappointment. I'm not sure how you can fuck up this story (one of King's scariest and overall best in my opinion), but the people behind this one found a way. Drastic changes are made for the sole purpose to explain all the events. It really sucks all of the frightening aspects of the story right out. It's a truly scary one when it seems these evil things are happening for no reason, but now it's because of the possibility of colon cancer?!?! Are you kidding me?!?! That, and it's terribly over-directed, a trend that most of these episodes have unfortunately had.

These has been a mamouth disappoint so far. It's even worse than Masters of Horror.

I was really impressed with Battleground, and thought that it was the beginning of a great series. It's been downhill since, though.

Crouch End: C-
Umney's Last Case: C
The End of the Whole Mess: C+
The Road Virus Heads North: C-
The Fifth Quarter: C-

Any bets on how bad the last two episodes will be?

I'll watch the last three episodes sometime this week.

Did anyone watch the final two last week?

Boring episodes again last week and I definately got the episodes mixed up again, I cant remember if the one about the treasure stash aired last week or 2 weeks ago
Anyhow we will get our horror show rush again when Masters of Horrors airs in october and the new series Dexter. Showtime is going to rule with those 2 and Sleeper Cell

I actually liked this one. The resolution was a bit of a letdown, and it felt like it would have worked better as a feature length film than a made for TV short, but it was pretty exciting, and Sisto is a great actor.

Not horror, though.

Abysmal end to an already hugely disappointing series.

The two main problems running through each episode - bad writing, and even worse acting.

Finally got around to watching these. Watched the first two tonight:

Battleground - B-

Not bad. The no dialogue thing felt really forced at the start, especially the scene on the plane (which was totally unnecessary), but once the action gets going, it's exciting. Hurt's pretty good, considering his complete lack of dialogue, and the camera work is well done, but hampered by the poor CGI. Still, it's a decent watch.

Crouch End - D-

Wow. Possibly one of the worst things I've ever seen. Atrocious acting, even worse dialogue, and absolutely dreadful visuals. Completely ruined the short story, which was only decent to begin with. Only thing that saves it from being a complete failure is some nice camera work, and a little twist at the end which is kinda intriguing, and not in the story. Still, though, this is terrible.

Possibly the worst horror anthology I've seen with the exception of the End of the Mess. At least in october horror overdrive takes place in SHO with season 2 of Masters of Horror and the premiere of Dexter that looks like American Pyscho

Watched the next two:

Umney's Last Case - C

Starts off interestingly enough, with some appropriately cringe-worthy dialogue as a homage to the time period it's set in. But the story moves too quickly at the beginning and then slows to a crawl at the end. The ending is terribly done, too - way too different from the story. Macy is good in the dual role, but he's the lone bright spot. Not horror, but neither was the short story.

The End of the Whole Mess - B+

My most anticipated of the anthology, as the story was one of my favourites, and it didn't disappoint that much. The visuals and special effects are really terrible, but the acting is solid, and the story is both faithful to the original and updated for the new century. The 9/11 thing was fitting, didn't feel out of place, and really added to the story as a whole. It's weird that, even though King wrote the story over ten years ago, the story has been made even more truthful by events of the past decade. The ending is quite well done too. Not horror either, but again, neither was the short story.
