As if a film will be 65% the way to $400 m in its first 10 days. That's ridiculous! Only 6 films have ever gotten to that level unadjusted, and Pirates could be 2/3 the way there after just 10 days. Wow.
Pirates also smashed through the top 100 all time domestic today, and is now at #85 after just 6 days in release.

Well...Pirates...
It should be at around $260-265 million by Sunday. It will definitely cross $300 million in 15 days which is...well...unheard of. Basically, I expect it to pass $300 million next Friday.
It's basically a lock for $400 million. It should also pass Shrek 2 as fastest to $400 million, but I don't think it'll overtake it in total gross. Right now I see $430-435 million.

Hehe. Its interesting to see $209,881,552 at mojo as the top 12 total last weekend, and not have it italized...

As for other films, Cars is really a stand-out. Without direct competition and with still 3,000+ theatres, I see it dropping less than 30% this weekend. $220 million by the end of the weekend. I still think that $250 million is possible, but it will really depend on how hard Monster House, The Ant Bully and Barnyard will hit it.
Over the Hedge will also end up with a decent gross, having passed $150 million today. It was quite leggy, despite Cars. If not for Cars, it'd have gone for $165+ million, though.
The Da Vinci Code is still hanging on there pretty well.

If Cars could pull a 26% drop from POTC 2's opening, I think it could get a drop of under 25% this weekend. Yes, I know it was helped by spillover business, but it remains a top choice among moviegoers.

You know something?? I call BULLSH*T on this daily box office chart since Monday, more to do with the fact that I can't believe SR has held onto the #2 spot over Devil Wears Prada as close as the numbers are between the 2.. I'm betting WB is fudging SR numbers to make it at #2 when in fact, Prada has been better received and is really probably the #2 movie..

I'm serious though.. The numbers between those 2 movie's is just too close and you know WB would be further offended even more if another movie overshadowed their big budget disaster and Bryan Singer would cancel all interviews for the rest of his life for fear of someone asking what he thought of POTC 2 Dismantling his movie in a matter of one weekend....

Why would they fudge the numbers so it only beats it by less than $100,000. Wouldn't it have made more sense to make the gap a tiny bigger? Or do you think they were worried internet posters were going to catch their trick?

Well, Gee, I caught em.. If the movie went from making 2.6 Million for the last couple of days and Thursday comes and all of a sudden, it jumps 3 Million more to take the #1 spot over PRADA, then that would be far too obvious so why not keep the total closer.. SR is a BUST and WB knows it and this is what's called Damage Control to keep WB's film alfloat and make it seem like it's better than what it is..

LOL, what the heck?
Superman increased 1% on Thursday, by less than $0.1 million to still around $2.65 million. Prada decreased 1% to $2.6 million.

It made $2.65 on Wednesday, not $3 million. Look it up on BOM or on page two of this thread. It increased by a whopping 1%. You can basically say it's made the same amount of money all week. Prada has done the same. Stop trying to find something when there isn't anything there.

Actually it's the other way around but somehow, WB managed fudge the box office to make it seem like this boat is still afloat.. Prada is actually beating SR.. It's true I'm telling ya.. First Singer nearly has a nervous breakdown after being questioned how it feels to basically have your movie OWNED by another studio's movie, then the Cast of SR does their best to put as much positiveness in this as possible to no avail and last but not least, WB's last ditch attempt to give this movie a shred of dignity by finaggling the numbers in their favor to make it seem like there's still interest..

If Pirates 2 makes 80m this weekend like B.J. thinks, then think 500m would be a lock, and with 70m 450 would be a lock

Schools get out every day during early June. The weekdays tend to increase strongly for most family films, so drops for one are worse then the raw numbers indicate. The comparision is misleading.

80 would require a Friday increase of almost 90% which I wouldn't bet on. 70 requires 65 which some say is probable but I'm thinking 50. A 70m weekend would only get it to 425.

A 70m weekend would give it a great chance at 475m assuming it levels off somewhat.

435 tops. If it drops less than 50% in its second weekend, it doesn't have much leveling off to do.

It will have many drops under 40% late in the run. That's certain. You also must be underestimating the weekdays.
In any case, after a 45m weekend SM2 had a multiplier from that point on of 3.6. With a similar drop POTC2 would have that multiplier at the least and probably better.
