I actually started because of Titanic too. I would always hear on the new the weekend box office so one day I go to Yahoo! Movies to the all time charts and I see Titanic is first. I wanted to know how much it made in its first weekend so I search and found The-Numbers.com.

I think it was Spidermans $114 opening that really got me interested in Boxoffice. It wasnt until about this time last year that I started looking around for movie sites. I found Boxofficemojo which was by far best site I had found for the statistics; and it went on from there.

Beautiful.

I started following box office during Analyze This's opening weekend. Very random, nondescript time, but I remember. Also started on The-Numbers.com.

I've been interested in box office since I was 10, when I wanted to see how well Mortal Kombat did.

Titanic is insane.

By the way, I got into box-office by reading the grosses in the newspaper every Monday morning, I did that from when I was 9-10 every week up until last year when I discovered mojo and this place. No particular movie got me into it. I remember first reading Spider-man's number heh, it was pretty cool.

USA Today Life section got me hooked. :D Started with The Lion King when the headline read $40m OW.
The rest was history.

Wow, 800 mill domestic adjusted. That's insane. And Doc is right, a run like this will never be duplicated.

I don't like the adjusted charts. The Ten Commandments would never make $838 million right now. It's all about timing.

I know the adjusted charts aren't meant for that, but I just don't like reading them. I look at a movie made in the 60s which made $50 million, and I know that's impressive. I don't need a chart that tells me what it made, adjusted for ticket price inflation.
