I thought the ending was fine. But I thought the film dragged in the mid-section. As I recall (I haven't seen the film in a year), Jack and co. fight the Black Pearl and are captured. Jack and Elizabeth end up on the island, spend a few minutes jumping around, and then we're back where we were fighting the Pearl.

I actually found that part of the movie very moving and entertaining. Although, I get why you feel it should've been cut. There was no development whatsoever on those scenes.

They should have found a better way to end the movie other than bringing Jack back to the Gallows for yet another escape. The part before that was very very good (with him shooting Jeff Rush's character and his last words), they should have found a way to end the movie right around there, cause the last 10 minutes were not so good.

those were the best scenes. the island scene with jack & elizabeth is classic; and everything else is all intregul to the plot.

both have very popular captains, russell crowe and johnny depp.
both have much action
both were released in 2003. one in the summer, one in the winter.
sure, there are some distinct differences in style, but when its all said and done... these were the only two "sea" movies released in 2003 and with this, we have seen a major interest in pirate-sea-ship movies.
the perfect example is the recent hallmark channel release blackbeard. a mix of humor and serious action.
when you compare the two movies, i see more relations between the two than any other film released at that time. Oh come on. That's grasping at straws. They both take place on the ocean. They take place in, generally, the same part of he Atlantic. That's about as much in common as they have. Pirates of the Caribbean is a 17th century ghost story. Master and Commander is a Napoleanic Era character study. First kind of mini review if you guys care, I don't but here it is, Sam Ruben(spelling) he's an entertainment guy and he does a short bit with a local Chicago station from Hollywood and he said it is two and and half hours and they throw everything in there but it wasn't bad.

it was stupid in my opinion because of the way the jokes were set up and the plot was set up. to me, every joke fell flat and only the 14 year old girls laughed at them. the plot was too predictable in my opinion. sure, you can think differently and thats fine.
