If Superman Returns does fantastic business, this will disappoint and fall below $250M. The only thing in its favor, as in the case of the original, no big movies after its release. bleh, ceilling = 588m That's your prediction. The ceiling is much higher. Ceiling = 680m Was that supposed to be sarcastic?
Well, I was joking. But, only mostly joking.

correction, In North American alone, it will make 100m-150m of its gross in Canada (smothering Titanic and the record), another 50m+ from Alaska the rest from the other states

Still think it's too early to tell.
If it has the WOM of the original, maybe.
I'm still predicting $120 million opening.

I didn't know you had $48 million dollars laying around, BJ. Where'd you get it? Inheritence, or just smart investments?

It could do a Shrek 2 type increase. SR equals PoA except it'll affect POTC's opening rather than its legs. POTC won't have something like TDAT but other small releases could cover that. As far as competition goes, Shrek 2 has a little bit more than POTC.

maybe for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 in 2007, but not this one. Do those of you who think this will make more than 500 think Pirates 3 will do 600+?

After that FANTASTIC trailer that I just saw for it before X3, I'd say $300M may be a good bet. $400M's the real longshot, but possible. Can't see it getting over $500M...just because it would have to be a true phenomenon, having much repeat business to do that.
Still, I'm so excited about this film! It's great to see a pre-ordained blockbuster that looks like it will actually have some creativity to it! That pirate crew, the krakken, the ghost ship that comes up from under the water...right on!!!!

Not gonna happen.
300 mil tops! Although 220 mil is more realistic. Yeah, I'll go with that.

this club is too much to join, i agree it has a very good chance at over $400 million. but $500 million is really out of question.
