Post Helena Bonhma Carter as Bellatrix Lestrange in OOTP
This happened today looks like the previous actress couldn't do because she is pregnant, but I am happy I so wanted Carter before as Bella she is perfect for the role.

Dude, I'd die if that was ever announced. Burton would be SO awesome as an HP director.

Congrats to Helena! I think she'll be GREAT in the role of Bellatrix!

Joy beat me to it.

If there's one thing I've always appreciated about the Potter series, it's the willingness to let artists take reign. A Burton Potter film would be fantastic.

She's a good choice for the role. Just needs to dye her hair black, I think.

And Burton would be amazing for Potter. His style is so distinctive and fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the later books. We can only hope.

Good, I didn't like the last choice much.

I'm hoping she can get really fucking evil for the part, it's a dream role really.

According to IMDb, they're engaged with a kid.

The Harry Potter books tend to all meld together in my head, especially the minor characters, but does Bellatrix Lestrange have much of a role in OotP?

[spoil]Ah, right. But still, that only means that one part at the very end. Does she show up at all during the rest of the book?[/spoil]

[spoil]It's been years since I read it but didn't she kill torture neville's parents? And might there be a flashback to that?[/spoil]

[spoil]As I said, the books all meld together for me. I know that there was the thing with all the flashbacks in the pensieve in Dumbledore's office, but I thought that was in book 4. Also, I don't even remember if Bellatrix was in those flashbacks. Did she go to Azkaban? Because the flashbacks were to the trials.[/spoil]

[spoil]Yeah, she has a decent sized and important role. When all the dangerous convicts escape from Azkaban, she's the one focused on as the most evil and almost the leader of the bunch, she's pretty much Voldemort's #1 follower. Then there's lots of stuff like the trial flashback, the visit to Neville's parents who she tortured to the looney bin(might make that a flashback), and Sirius talking about her in his house as they're cousins. And then she's there in the MoM brawl at the end where she kills him, and after that Harry chases her for a while, and she's there hiding in the Dumbeldore vs Voldemort fight by the fountain. The ending should last at least 40 minutes, with the other stuff building up before it, it'll be a part. Plus the fact that it's such a juicy and memorable character, makes the casting of it exciting.[/spoil]

Why is this stuff in spoiler tags? The book's been out for, what, three years?

Anyway, Bellatrix shows up in book 4, but she's not mentioned by name. She's one of the Death Eaters that Harry sees in the penseive, on trial for torturing Neville's parents. That scene wasn't in the movie. In the book, Crouch Jr. also had a hand in the torture. It didn't really become important until book 5, so I can see why they left it out of the film.

In book 5, she escapes from Azkaban, and she's pretty heavily featured in the finale at the end. She's pretty much the #2 baddie, behind Voldemort.

I know much of the HP fandom is very interested (obsessed?) with Bellatrix and many of the baddies. (I know this only from reading Fandom Wank, since I'm not at all in the HP fandom.) But I've never been interested in any of them, and mostly just forget about anything they have done. Seems to me like Voldemort is still the one and only baddie, with his minions just being there to carry out his bidding. Which minion does what doesn't seem important.

Well next to Voldemort she is probably the evilest one of his minions. The way the Battle in the Department of Mysteries she was pretty much Voldemort's second in command after Lucius. I guess that changed after OOTP though. I think she will make a great Bella myself.
