heh I think every studio is now copying MI3 by playing their ads way too early. MI3 had ads way back in early march and X-3 followed through with ads in early April, followed by SR with ads playing in early may, I now even see POTC2 ads playing 3 days ago. I guess MV has jumped in the bandwagon

Yeah, on-loacation filming certainly made the budget skyrocket, but I still see it being fairly more successful than Poseidon, so it won't be the biggest bomb of the year.

No way its 180 million. Really expensive movies usually have CGI/FX, time period costuming and exotic location shots to make up the huge budget, MV doesnt fit that description. It would only have a 180 million budget if they actually blew up a yacht containing 600 kgs of actual cocaine

Holy crap, Thats 3x Collateral's budget.
It's pretty obvious why it's so high, they had to pay Phil Collins about 120m to use " In the Air Tonight "
No but seriously, it's probably because the cgi use is at a minimum. Which sky rockets the budget, kinda like Batman Begins. Which makes me happy but should make the studio a very sad panda.

You know...recently, I've been getting this feeling that it'd actually do quite well. It is already getting decent promotion, the brand name is well-known and Foxx/Farrell looks like a good buddy cop pairing. I could see this getting an opening up to $40 million if it is advertised heavily. One thing it lacks is female appeal, but if Bad Boys II can open to $40+ million, this should do at least $30 million.
