I highly agree. The year doesnt look great at all for WB. I dont see the appeal for the foreign market for the film because unlike MI3 or KOH, its not a historical epic or action film that normally do very well overseas

Well, BOM says $160m, so it'd probably be even less than $200m with marketing (or lack thereof).
In any case, a bomb it is...

The Island, Stealth, and Poseidon were all great under-rated movies. Oh well, it's the general public's loss if they miss out on seeing this kind of movie on the big screen...

I liked Poseidon and all, but this was inevitable. All signs in the past two weeks have pointed to a sub-$40 million weekend, and even though we may think that a sub-$25 million was impossible, Poseidon showed that it is possible.
WB's fault, really.

That will show them to make generic ass disaster movies. They were already pushing the boundaries on the craptacular disaster movie with DAT. Put a nail in the coffin for these type of movies already

DAT had money shots galore. People wanted to go and see it - the opening weekend said it all. Poseidon had the been there done that feel - with the money shot being the tidal wave engulfing the ship - but it looked blandly similar to a cross between Deep Impact and Perfect Storm.
Plus - this wasnt a remake that was warranted.
Overseas i can see it doing $100m so possibly $150-$180m worldwide.

I wouldn't say the budget was "$160M-$200M". Infact, it's often been said it's more like $150M.
$160M is the highest i'v seen, and that's only on BOM.
Anyway, it flopped in the USA.....i think it could get close to $200M worldwide.

IMDB has the budget listed at $140 million, but I'm pretty sure it's closer to $160 million. I really doubt it's $200 million, unless they're counting marketing in that figure.
If it makes $55 million domestically, that's a $130 million loss for WB before international figures and DVD. I don't know how much the studio earns from international grosses, but that's a big number to recover from.

Holy shit that's a bomb. Harsh. That's got to be the one of the lowest openings ever for a film that cost more than $100 million to produce.

I really don't think the studio should be blamed. There was plenty of marketing.
It's just that no one actually wanted to see it (after seeing the final product, it's not hard to understand why).
