firsttv spot just aired with smallville finale. for those who hated the trailer due to bad editing, you should like this.ill post it when it gets online., its basically the same footage and dialogue, but its just edited better.
starts with us panning around superman in space, his eyes closed, as we hear cries for help. they open, and then he blosts away and then right into the camera, then its a montage of action with new money shots including the yacht breaking in halftitanic style, as well as superman screaming.

Quote: Anyways, some of the new footage included Lex holding Supes in a reverse bear hug and stabbing him in the back while Supes screams in agony. Also it shows a different angle of Superman hovering in space, this time from the side and it zooms in on his ear while there is audio of shots from the trailer such as Lex screaming "billions". Lois and Jason are also seen staring up in the crowd from the trailer and teaser, the Gertrude is shown getting ripped in half while in the water, and an incredible closeup shot of Supes flashes quickly at the end.

That's better than the teaser and trailer combined. It's the same footage, but it actually makes the film look...exciting, instead of the boring trailer.

on a minor note, the international trailer and final poster are due any day

Quote: IMAX 3D Scene Placements!!! I got a major scoop this evening! I attended the 1st advance screening of Poseidon on the IMAX in Pittsburgh. Before an IMAX screening like this, they generally tell you what else is coming. The theater owner proceeded to announce that Superman Returns would be playing in IMAX AND 3D. Now we know this, but the next part I haven't heard anywhere yet. He said that the 1st 10 minutes, the middle 10 minutes, and the last 10 minutes of the movie would be in 3D. For those math challenged folks, that makes a full 30 minutes of 3 DIMENSIONAL FUN!

My early, basic prediction:
60/200
I'm sure it'll be refined later...

The following were taken from SFX magazine (uk).
Spacey interview
Did you go back and look at what Gene Hackman did in the old superman movies?
"Yeah, i watched the other ones, but not with any sense of wanting to reference them, because this is a very different lex luthor. this is a very bitter lex out for revenge. theres still humor but its not the same"
How hard was it shaving your head and was there any question you'd shave it?
"oh that was easy ive done it before. No i think people want their lex bald"
This is brandons first film. you're an establsihed star. how do you build a rapport with him?
"i dont have to - i just have to kick the **** out of him (laughs). he recognises what a remarkable oppertuinity this is for him, as it was for chris reeve, and hes taking that seriously. i always thought it was the right choice to go with an unknown."
Singer Quotes
"it puts the first film into a vague history, the second film is not in my history. its not a particularly good film, either, if you watch it again. We are referencing the first film in the designs and the detail but not over - referencing it."
"the theme will be the same, reorchestrated and reproduced and there are certain themes that id like to put in the movie like the love theme, lois's theme. without them i wouldnt have made the film. they are vital."
On Brando's voice and image in the movie,
"we were able to go into the archives and find the original ADR sessions and the original out-takes. there arnt many, but enough for me to generat what i need. hes not going to be walking around as a character. there will be use of his voice and image in a way that has never been seen before. plus there will be certain vocal takes that will be different from those in the original movie. if your a sharp fan you'll be able to hear that difference. For me, as a fan, its kind of a treat to hear that difference."
"Theres one particular scene where we imply that hes been all around the world at night, saving people in different countries. so when clark shows up for work hes just got a grin on his face, watching the tv monitors 'superman was in paris!' 'superman was in germany!' 'he was in a concinience store!' 'some people think that hes moving faster than the speed of light!'. everyone is watching it except for lois."
"one idea we threw out there was a peter pan kinda thing, where he comes back and lois is in her 40's and hes still young because hes superman and he doesnt age"
"im bringing my own story, my own look. its not new york, its metropolis"
discussing the heat vision effect with a technition - "otherwise its just cyclops"
"My stills photographer took some amazing pictures on the set, and one day he handed me a photo of superman and lois about to kiss and that was the moment i turned the picture around to whoever was in the trailer at the time and said 'this is superman. this is it. this is the movie. weve got the boys, if we get this right we will also get the girls. that picture reminded me of how special this movie can be"
Mike Dougherty
"the weird thing about superman is that he doesnt have a gallery of villans from the comic book universe that the public know about, the villans get thrown to batman somehow"
"people say doomsday is a great villan, but i remember thinking when i read the death of superman, that hes just a big guy made of rock who can beat things up, thats not interesting to me, theres no dimension there. Luthor is great. its like brain vs brawn.
"lex is kina xenophobic. he hates the idea of an alien on earth who has that much power. in his mind hes not so much of a villan but a pro-human."
Dan Harris
"were kinda dealing with bizzaro and Mr Mxyzptlk and it would have taken an incredible amount of creative thinking to get that on screen. we wanted to bring superman back in a stylish and sophisticated way that wont scare people off. theres no time for bizzaro. lets put him back in our world and then get bigger"

I could imagine you being right on this. That's sad; what ruined potential.

Seriously, I can't see this going anywhere close $250 million. It might cross $200 million with a last minute marketing blitz, but frankly, they blew it. Even F4 was given much better promotion.

lecter you and I both know its far too early to say they blew it. the movies is 48 days away. that and fantastic fours promotion was aweful until late late june. it had trailer with elektra and xxx2. it didnt gain any real hype till its tv spots saved the day. too bad it was an aweful film. superman atleast had one decent trailer getting a lot of viewings.
what mental block do you have that doesnt let this get 250 million;i can see it easily.
-mi3 sized media coverage except nobodys sick fo the star.
-mega june promotion everywhere. read the thread, theyll be unleading nearly 55 milion in the month of june alone. from huge tie ins to 90 minute long documentaries to dozens of tv spots, superman will be all over the tube.
-july 4th weekend release. assures itll be a big hit.
sticking to 90/290.
