If I'm reading correctly, he plans to use Kryptonite to build his own country/continent. Of course, Kryptonite is cancerous, so everyone will die. Hence Lois' "You'll kill millions!" "Billions!"

from what i understood in the trailer, it wasn't kryptonite but more so, the crystals the fortress of solitude is made out of.

even if you look at the publicly released trailer, they provide enough evidence for it.

baba, you havent followed this thread like we have...if you did youd know thing will sail past batman. in june, superman will be EVERYWHERE. trust me, weve discussed the marketing amount to no end. this film is a legit lock for 250 million...and will sail past batman begins, simply due to the amount of marketing it will be recieving. this trailer will build lots of awareness and a moderate level hype-not as much as it could have-posters/billbaords showing up as well as theater standees. but june promises to be insane...this has endorsment deals from a TON of companies-pepsi, bruger king, and a lot more.
this will blow past batman numbers...and im with you. i lowered my total 35 million due to the trailer, but this will still be huge. from 325 down to 290. itll have an insane first week due, plain and simple. i mean this trailers A LOT better then war of the worlds theatrical was, and that got 234 million with less compitition and far less appeal.
right now i see:
-friday-30.5 million
-saturday-31.9 million
-sunday-28.7 million- ow total is 90.7million
monday-19.1 millon
tuesday july 4th-14.4 milion-5 day is 124 million
first week around 150 million. second weekend around 40 million, second week around 25 millionn, 3rd weekend around 23, 3rd week around 13.3 million, and 4th weekend around 13total is 264 million, and then a big drop off once august startsdue to theater count, and a 290 million total.
i have no doubts this will be an entertaining film, it just seems most were unlike me, and expected rama as opposed to summer entertainment.
realistcally, this trailer shouldnt of dropped my gross so much. come june, if the june marketings right it can EASILY make up from any turnoffs this trailer had, and th june marketing wll be so big in terms of how much stuff we get; it honestly would b able to totally make up for this trailer.
but im in a bad mood and ampissed at w,b soi asumme they wont make up for it, and lowered it from 100/325 downto 90/290.

This is a matter of opinion. I didn't think the Superman Returns trailer was bad at all, but it was not better than War of the Worlds. Furthermore, a film with Tom Cruise and directed by Spielberg with "far less appeal"? Please.
It's not a lock for $250 million.

I agree with most of you guys in saying the trailer was weak. Just caught the acess hollywood trailer, man superman deserves better than that. im still holding onto the low 200m. around 210-215m total.

Yes Baba, if you werent such a silly goose and actually followed this thread you would know that excel knows that Superman Returns will pass Batman Begins. Because all of the incredible " graphics " and it's marketing glory. See the marketing hasnt hit yet BUT once it hits it's all over for any movie in SR's way.

You're a moron Zing. Whenever someone goes gets a can of pepsi, they'll see a picture of Superman and go " Oh, I need to go see this movie " think about how many people drink Pepsi. If like 1/10 of them go see SR, SR will probably make almost a billion dollars.
Zing once again proves how he knows nothing and that you havnt really been following this thread.

uhhh yeah...that was war of the worlds; a dark acton flick. this superman, sorry but superman returns appeals to more people then war of the worlds did.
and honestly, i defiently think that-in terms of building hype-supermans got the better trailer. easily. war would look likethe better movie, but for building big sumemr hype, supermans trailer is better.
as for a lock for 250 million...i dunno...i cant see this getting anything less. i mean itll have a big 125 million+ first week, and at most i can see that being 52% and thats assuming this gets bad wom/pirates is huuge. that would puts its total gross at 240 million.
ok, so this is a lock for 240 million.
