This looks very boring. WB didn't even bother to go day-in-day-out with the rest of the world. I think it will be a high second place getter, but this doesn't deserve huge numbers or #1. It looks like lazy filmmaking, which Wolfgang Petersen has gotten away with. Also Josh Lucas is bo poison.

I think disaster films are not very critically friendly, and I think Ebert and Roeper might tear this to shreds, like they did to TROY, which wasn't that bad.

There's also a positive Peter Travers review up.

I don't think so.

CARS, X3, MI3, DVC, POTC2 and even SUPER X GIRLFRIEND looks much more promising.

The marketing isn't bad, but WB could have done a whole lot better.

The marketing has been generic, thus it'll perform like a generic blockbuster and make around 120m-130m, at best given the hype has been almost non existent for a big budget flick like this.

Yeah, but the internet world isn't the real world.

I really think Josh Lucas might kill this film.

Not bad, but not stellar. Anybody expecting this to do remarkable numbers should probably take a look at the calendar. This just doens't have as much going for it. Shame, really. I'm quite interested in seeing the movie, and every time I'm at the theater with some friends, at least one of them goes" Oh man, is that like the Poseidon Adventure?" I'm just not feeling much widespread buzz. 45/130

I disagree. They mostly have some massively popular source material, have some great concept, or groundbreaking special effect (I, Robot, TDAT). Poseidon has none of that which reminds me of the likes of Stealth or Kingdom of Heaven. The BO this year more then ever has been driven by niche films (again this week with Stick It), and there is always that risk of aiming at every demographic so that you miss all.

50m+ no matter how generic the film looks.

I have to agree about the marketing, I've barely seen any ads for this yet, while the tv is saturated with MI3 ads. WB had better get moving and promote this pronto. I say 50 mil for the 3 day opening, and perhaps 120 by the time it's over. I don't see this as having great legs. Not with all the competion.

I disagree. This is definitely not a lock for $100 m. I'm not entirely sure this is a lock for $75 m.

I really can't see this not topping $100m. But who knows, in the end, anything can happen...

Personaly I think it looks lame...But then with and all that hype advertisement/names involved..... I guess it will do about 120 total.
But as I said...very likely I will not go and see it.
