Post News on Terminator 4
"Terminator 4 producer Andy Vajna tells the AAP that the fourth film could be shot Down Under.

"We were thinking about Australia. We have been looking at the Warner Bros Studios down there but it is early days," Vajna said from the set of his current film, Children of Glory, in Hungary. "That would be probably early next year."

[...]

Regarding whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back, Vajna added, "We would like Arnie in it as a cameo. We want to go on with the Terminator and turn it into a real sci-fi picture and there is a very interesting role for Arnold if he decides he wants to do it."

FULL STORY HERE

Frankly, I don't want to see a Terminator flick if Arnie is not the lead.

Please, Arnold is this Franchise. Its like having the next Jurassic Park film about Mummies. End this franchise, with one of the best trilogies of all time.

Yeah, if it doesn't have Arnold as the lead I have no interest in it, and I doubt it will do as well as T3 did.

No ARnie, no Terminator.

Narrow minded people...

How many more times do we really need Arnie telling us he'll be back? And this is coming from a big Arnie fan. What we haven't seen depicted yet though is the future war. A movie around the war and done right would simply rule, with or without Arnie, his character wouldn't even be required. Though i don't hold much hope for a great 4th movie, since Cameron left it only went downhill. The 3rd wasn't bad but a far cry from the greatness of the first two.

if this movie is about the future war, why does arnold need to be in it for more than a cameo? it would be sweet to finally see the full on war between humans and thousands of t-800/850 endoskeletons. it would be sweet to see the 3 "arnolds" get sent back to their various destinations in time though. maybe that's why they said they have an "interesting role" for arnold if he wants it. maybe bring michael biehn back to play kyle reese? if he can still pass for a 30ish year old that is.

The question is...do we even NEED to see this film then? The story has been told.

It should have been complete with the second film. The third movie kind of ruined the entire point of the second movie.

Screw Arnold, the story's about John Connor. I'll be more worried if Nick Stahl really isn't coming back.

For all I know, he is not.

Which worries me, because he liked him quite a bit in Terminator 3. He looks more like Reese's son than Edward Furlong did, and he was developing that leader mentality by the end.

Well, maybe they can decide to get Furlong back. Considering the crap he stars in nowadays, I bet he'd beg for this part, hehe.

As far as I know, Furlong was pencilled into T3, but they wouldn't give him the role because of his drug problem.

That's true, but he is supposedly clean now. And starring in this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0414161/

and this: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0324952/

Not to mention The Crow 4...

But yes, it'd be a huge comeback for him.. he used to be quite big in the 90's (thanks to T2..)...

Thats bull, although Its Cameron's baby, it wouldnt have been nearly as popular if OJ Simpson took on the original role. It was Arnolds Charisma that brought back the 2nd film, and the third.

The point is, the films aren't about Arnold. T2 and (especially) T3 were about John Connor. You don't need Arnold in T4 if he can't participate.

Maybe from the storyline point, but honestly, when people think of Terminator, they don't think of "John Connor" or "James Cameron"...

They can think what they want, and if that's the case, Terminator 4 could very well bomb. But from a story perspective, Arnold Schwarzenegger means very little at this point.

Yeah and if Arnold had starred but it was directed by Jason Lee it wouldn't have made as much either. Your post is silly. Arnold was an important factor in the first one's success but by no means irreplaceable. He wasn't even that well known before the first Terminator, he wasn't the main reason people went to see it.

True, but let's say Cameron directed the third movie, but without Schwartzenegger. I bet it would have made as much as T3 did with Mostow on board, maybe even less.
